I'm pretty sure new people are picking this game up every day, its fun, and well made, and somewhat well balanced, considering. It seems to me however, that all of the older posts about how to get started and making money are out of date: The AI has been updated, sundials were nerfed, a few new cards were added, the FGs don't seem to be exploitable in any notable way any more.

I read a post the other day by ScaredGirl, who seemed to think you need about 7 upped cards to start killing FGs now. So, my question is, how in the world do you get 10k gold you need just to start a real farm? A thousand AI3 matches? A month of mostly desync'd pvp? Slamming your unupgraded deck against the best fully upgraded decks in t50?

I'm really starting to feel like an idiot, i just can't get started in this game, i feel like i'm smashing my head against some brick wall that was just installed a week before i started playing.

help! xD

I've had much the same problem. Trying to catch up to the people who were able to exploit the previously weaker FG's and get fully upgraded decks is really hard. I've been grinding on top50 for some time now upgrading one card at a time. The good news about playing the top50 decks is that they are, for the most part, specifically designed to beat FG's only. Specialization can effectively counter those decks rather well. I've used both a minor vampire+adrenaline+momentum+quintessence deck for ~50% win percentage on top50 and an unupgraded fire deck that relies on Fahrenheit that has ~60-70% win percentage. It's slow going but patience is a virtue.

Additionally if Zanz implements his Oracle idea it could give quite a boost to those of us who missed the golden FG farming era so there may be hope for the future.

All of my starter guides have updated decks with the new cards, most notably the Life element starter guide.

The only thing I need to change in those threads is update some information on level 5 farming and change the link to the false god farmer.

I found Scaredgirl's guides, but I haven't run into yours yet. Hopefully I'll bump into them.

Look for the 'Deckbuilding 101' threads in the mono-deck sections. :)
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I have to sympathize with you new-comers. I myself joined 3 weeks ago, roughly at the time when Sundials were being nerfed. In these 3 weeks, the AI has seen massive improvement, there have been more False Gods added and even more game content (Alchemical Cards/Nymphs) being added in very near future.

I guess it is the price you pay though, Zanzarino (the game creator), devotes a lot of his time and puts hard work into coding and fixing bugs, adding  new content and balancing this game for us. So, on the one hand you have a game which is evolving over time - quicker than the fact-base, wiki and forums can keep up. But the end product is a better game in my opinion.

When I started out, I reset my account 10 to 15 times to try out all the elements and see which one I preferred the most. Then finally settling for Air/Life Firefly Queen deck and grinding Level 3's, I realized there was a forum and wiki's which list lots of strategies and deck-building techniques.

The main pitfall that new players fall in, is once achieving 500 score, you get to pick a rare weapon these weapons are rare. I cannot stress this enough, make sure you read each one carefully and pick the best one for your deck. The favourite/most widely used/discussed weapons are in no particular order Pulverizer, Eternity and Lobotomizer, and then possibly Fahrenheit and Owls Eye.

The easiest way to get upgraded cards (only way?) is to grind False Gods, as you have a higher chance to win a card against these. The most efficient (most commonly used) way that I know of right now to do this is to use a Rainbow Deck, check the wiki and try them out.

Hope this helps!

And, Happy Hunting!
