Sparkmare Challange(?) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=52160.msg1107549#msg1107549

After seeing a few comments in the Kongchat about how stupid it was to nightmare a spark.. I had an idea.. I have designed SparkMare!
I have opened this thread so others may post their own SparkMare decks and compare with the others.
Rules of the SparkMare challange:
The deck must be based around using nightmare on a Spark for what ever gains you come up with.
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
52k 52k 52n 52n 52n 52n 52r 52r 5v1 5v1 5v1 5v1 5v1 5v1 61p 61p 61p 61p 61p 61p 710 710 710 710 710 710 710 71a 71a 71a 8pt

This was my first beta test and I have a 100% win rate against AI3 with it.

I would love to see what others come up with.

in pvp, opponent will see your strategy when you lay out bonewall or boneyard, and thus will hold and discard sparks instead of playing them.

Try replacing the bone walls with skull shields. Bone walls are relatively incompatible with forcing the opponent to spam many creatures (even if those creatures immediately die). I would also probably recommend swapping the bone yards out for more vultures, since a swarm of skeletons isn't going to do you all that much good as it stands, and you'll wind up with a full field very quickly (and therefore be unable to play any more sparks or vultures).

It's worth noting that you have to draw a spark for each nightmare, so you might want to drop the number of nightmares down a little bit to cut down on the amount of time you're sitting around with extra nightmares in hand and nothing to use them on.

If you want to go with something that is (to me) a lot more entertaining but probably even less effective, try to shoehorn some water in there, keep the bone yards and go for dry spell when your field is full and they have a good handful of skeletons. Then spend all the water quanta on ice bolts (if you don't immediately kill them with your gigantic vultures). Note this is probably going to work poorly in practice due to being such a complex combo, but it'll be neat.

If you want to go with something that is probably more effective, stick with the bone yards, drop the vultures and add SoP. This'll give you an actual way to do a really solid amount of damage really quickly and will also solve the running-out-of-sparks-to-nightmare problem.

BWs are still good against sparks. They give 1 bone stack for each spark played. 2 when you play 1.

Very interesting ideas. I'll have to try them out and see how they do. :)

I know, but they also go down quickly against other creatures with no way to feed them other than sparks, and sparks are quite inconsistent since you need to draw both a spark and a nightmare to use them (rather than just keeping a single copy of whatever you're trying to nightmare alive on your side of the field to spam nightmare on it). If you want to run the deck with bone walls, I'd probably want a lot more than two copies (4-5 is where I'd start) in order to be able to spam them while the opponent's other creatures take them down and/or some way to actually handle the opponent's other creatures.

I agree with maybe adding 1 or 2  more BW, but since the deck isn't really a stall, just a few BWs is actually pretty good, even with no cc.

A few months ago I got nightmare as my oracle card and decided to do something other than ghostmare.  I designed a deck around nightmare+ball lightning that now has a VERY high win rate against ai4.

I give you Balls to the Wall:

There was a troll AI made by someone time ago that nightmared flying Daggers and spammed some neuroroxin. The AI plays ALL the daggers instantly, increasing its poison in up to 8 per turn. This deck reminded me to that :3
