CREATURE TIER LIST

for mixed PvP metas

Major Considerations:

• prevalence of usage in PvP
• amount and strength of synergies
• cost efficiency
• role in-element
• typical damage output
• resistance to control
• strength of ability

Creatures shown as unupgraded have major differences from their upgraded counterpart, so much that they are often considered sidegrades and have significant playstyle differences. This does not mean the unupgraded version is strictly or even often better.

Creatures are ordered within their tier.

This list is intended for discussion purposes. It is not meant to influence deck building or newcomers to PvP, although it may be a useful reference.

Community feedback will augment this list over time - if you feel a creature is misplaced compared to similar creatures, or you notice its PvP usage is rising, please feel free to note it.

Notes:
IW and I began this project on a whim a week before posting it, inspired by MasterWalks' smaller tier lists. We only took one day off, and most days we worked for a few hours. The challenge of sorting this many cards was surprisingly fun, and IW is easy to work with and has a keen intuition for the game, so we finished much quicker than expected.

Some creatures moved up or down almost entire tiers over time, and some were pretty much unchanged from our initial blueprint.

Cannot find poor Purple Nymph.

Also: why is Ivory Dragon > Amethyst Dragon? The previous needs an Eclipse to survive a Lightning,
while the latter can shake it off. AD seems to be a better choice economically (11 quanta & 12/6 vs. 10+4 quanta & 13/6), too.

Up: mind flayer(seems like you used the better version everywhere else so why not here?), light nymph, elite antlion, abom, light dragon, death nymph
arguably up: retrovirus, maxwell, damselfly, flesh recluse, frog

that way around i actually dont have much of an objection

Down: Charger, water nymph, werewolf, gargoyle, life nymph, seraph, ball lightning, firemaster, brimstoneeater,

Double Down: Psion, GotP, Pharaoh, physalia, vampire, steam machine

pharaoh is supposed to be there for mummy/invictus? almost same for water nymph, in some cases nymph's tears is better, specially if u don't have upped nymphs in upgraded pvp, with nt u have a guaranteed first turn nymph
is a sort of paradox

up:

black dragon, darkness makes the final step to strong to broken thanks to have a strong dragon killed only by 2 cc or 6 damage bolt
amethyst dragon almost same as black dragon
grey nymph it's a dragon with a decent ability
elite wyrm can demolish stalls with very little support or simply rush with no problem
sofo 3 explosions for 4  and other combos
gnome & rol if u count only the cards alone without support i can understand the b tier, but otherwise totally up
mind and light nymph aren't borderline like the other cards in that tier

down:
 
golden nymph i have seen only one time in my life upped golden nymph in pvp, unfortunaly is too rare and the priority to invest codes is for air nymph, it's strong but is like if she doesn't really exist, unupped is a good filler
steel golem good cost/stats but it can't really rush, it doesn't destroy stalls alone
toadfish if in war can be a good way to save an upgrade for abyss crawler is in most cases a vanilla creature with a bad cost/stat
green nymph good but not like the other cards in that list

Up, because they're used more than other cards in their tier:
Seraph (Debauchery is one of the top decks)
Physalia (Great in rainbows and SoPa/BW decks)
Wyrm (On its own, maybe B+ fits, but considering the decks it stars in are more than capable of 4ttw, it definitely should be placed higher)
Ball Lightning (Fractal + Skyblitz/SoFre = win)
Immortal (used in the pvp-popular SoW mono. If spell damage makes psion S tier, surely elite immortal can be a little higher)

Down, mostly because of lack of pvp usage:
Graviton Guard (I assume it's here for guardtal? AKA inferior Fractix that noone uses in unrestricted play?)
Water Nymph (nice card, sure, but meta-defining? I feel like this is just here because NT isn't a creature)
Elite Mummy (Look at cockatrice)
Steam Machine (Nice in theory, but when was the last time anyone saw this in free pvp?)


Finally, I think Chimera should be unrated. It functions nothing like any other creature, more like a spell. It's hard to make a valid comparison with it to other creatures.
