I've been playing Elements on and off for years, and never really followed the meta; however, I see the current popular FG grinding decks, and they are drastically different from the multi-varied fast draw Rainbow FG grind decks from when I took a particularly long break.

So uhh...exactly what caused the dramatic shift in meta? The new FG? Shards?

The original timebows from six years ago abused the extremely powerful 2-turn sundial, which was nerfed to one turn. Following the nerf, a rainbow called CCYB took hold, it's defenses centered around Shard of Gratitude, which back then healed for 5 and costed 2 neutral quanta. Then, Shard of Gratitude was nerfed, but Shard of Readiness was buffed, allowing for a deck of unprecedented grinding power called Instosis. When Shard of Readiness was nerfed, Instosis became unplayable.

So, it was primarily the changes to Shards that brought down the old rainbow FG grinders, but they've also opened up some new one, like Brave Malignant Ball.
Somehow still around, somewhat

2 Turn Sundial? That DOES sound OP. But when I was using my own modified version of ScaredGirl's Rainbow FG Killer Deck (modified for more Creature Spawn + Improvement spam) it was always the 1 turn Sundial~

Maybe I have just always been out of touch with things lol.

Scaredgirl's grinder was never designed to be optimal. It was designed to be reasonably quickly attainable by a fairly new player, with minimal required rares or ups.  IT doesn't scale all that well though, you can't make it have a significantly higher win rate, you gotta switch to a new deck.  I suspect it isn't the meta that's changed, it's you.  You grew beyond the "starter" grinder deck and are finding the more optimized ones.

Ah, yes, how could I forget how much veterans played decks like Voodoo Bravery back in 2009. Sure, there was no Voodoo Doll or Shard of Bravery in the game yet, but they found a way to make it work.

On a serious note, Scaredgirl's grinder was originally fully upgraded, with the exception of cards that were more effective unupped. What you're thinking of is her low-upgrades version, which was more attainable to new players. And what did it scale into? The fully upgraded version, which was the best FG grinder at the time. Your conjecture is ridiculous.

I wasn't here for the beginning, but when I started using it to grind it was a stop gap between ROL/Hope and grinding up Inistosis.  The thread I found it in (only lightly upgraded) described it as a beginner's grinder.
