Sometimes Elements just feels like one big race. https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=7831.msg87862#msg87862

From a competitive point of view I understand that getting monsters out faster = more damage = greater chance of winning.

BUUUT

It gets old... very fast. Especially in PvP where every other deck i encounter is a pillar-less golem deck or another variant of a rush deck.

The thing that irks me a lot is when people ask for PvP in chat using said rush deck(although i admit to doing this a few times when i just created it for testing purposes) for the sole purpose of destroying the opponent. Then there is the off chance that they will encounter another rush deck in which case it pretty much comes down to luck on who gets the better starting hand.

Looking back at it rush decks were probably created to counter the now heavily used SG deck(which is another headache on it's own but I won't touch on it here)

I guess what I am trying to say is... I long for good PvP where people actually have to think instead of just playing what they can as fast as then can.

What are your thoughts on not-so-recent the rush deck phenomenon?

Rush decks fail to creature control. Take a deck with a lot of it plus some healing and you'll win the vast majority of the time.

Also try out Icy's anti-rainbow rush vs golem immolation decks it'll rip them apart, basically pack a lot of black holes.

My problem isn't that I can't deal with them. Heck a bone wall with a few thunderbolts can stop a rush dead in it's racks.

I just hate the lack of creativity and the lack of fun that comes with it. I love strategic games to death even when I lose.

I miss being able to legitimately say GG since most games aren't.

Agressive decks were not designed to be a counter to anything. The damage race is the basic form of victory upon which every CCG is based. Speed rainbows and Immolation/Golem decks are the fastest decks available, so they are the cream of the crop as far as aggro decks are concerned. The problem is that many control decks can't keep up like they used to. Since there are no combo decks, aggro rules in PvP.

Of course, I am only talking about unupped PvP; upped PvP is a bit more balanced, with Shard of Gratitude, Supernova, and Black Hole defining the format (at least at the moment).

I agree with the original post, pvp has kindve gone down a bit since every five seconds we see an unoriginal lava golem rush or shriekers or if they are really unimaginative they use an fg killer deck or aether mono. It gets really old seeing these as the msot repetive decks. Fractal pest was a nice change to see once in a while but i havent even seen that in a while, it has just been overshadowed by bloody golems. I guess it is the same in all card games, in yugioh speed decks are top tier so i suppose they might as well be here as well, but it does sadden me to see the large amount of people who do the same thing over and over again. Theres nothing wrong with the decks themselves it is jsut the sheer repettivness of seeing a golem rush or a shrieker rush over and over again.
I decided to "drop" back in

I used to want to tear my hair out when i encountered a shrieker rush deck (this is back when there was only 1 pvp option). I didn't have any upped PvP decks and any cards in my decks were upped because I was upgrading them in my FG farming deck. I would scream obscenities to myself about how lazy and stupid the other player was and that they had no strategy, but then i started exploring more pvp decks myself in trainer. The concept of rushing someone to death in one match is annoying , i'll agree. But in league matches or tournaments, you have 3 duels to play (or 2). This means that you can try to counter your opponents deck in the 2nd or 3rd round. If you believe they feel confident to win with it, you can play a total counter deck and they won't stand a chance - that's strategy. Or, if they barely won due to a lucky hand, you may think they will change decks to something else, and your deck should try to anticipate their choice. I love PvP in part because it is a mind game. I have a rainbow rush, one with more black holes, then a fully anti-rainbow charger deck, and a fractal charger deck, and a golem rush, and then a couple FG decks, it's all about playing the right deck. If you think someone will play a mono rush deck, play an anti matter / flying discord deck and that should take care of them.

What i'm saying is that every deck has a counter in the end. It can be frustrating and irksome to fight them unexpectedly, but when you know they're coming, its a whole different story.

That is all I am saying, I made a bunch of decks an 80% of them were pretty original. Mind you not all of those were completely successful but they were fun to play nonetheless!

I totally understand! Having not yet participated in a tournament I can't really say I have experience but I can see how much of a mind game it is which already makes it fun!

My main complaint was towards random pvp though.  >:(
