I tend to be antisocial whenever I enter duels and try to avoid contact with the opponent.  Reasoning is silly, but basically I assume that most people are there for the same reason I am:  To get the duel over and done with.  I'll sometimes talk to people I know pretty well outside of the game, but other than that I try to limit communication as much as possible.

I used to, until I discovered how rude the majority of pvp1 players are. Now I'll only talk if they do first.

I understand your reasoning, But for me, I feel it adds an air of community/social aspect.

More reason why I do. I refuse to be "that" person. And I feel players, Once given the opportunity, will respond and actually remember better my name and my demur. (also think it might help make another player be more sociable)

(also could someone explain how to post multi-quotes?)

I always do: secure in the knowledge that it will not stop me trying to win or that it will be interpreted as an invitation to be my BFF but rather that it is the gracious and polite thing to do while playing what should be an enjoyable game.
It is too late to apologise.  I have already forgiven you.

Always.

In game communication is a way to verify you're actually in the game and not playing against a desync or timeout.

I always talk a bit.
