RoL vs. BoL https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=9430.msg111290#msg111290

So... which one is better in a cremation deck? RoLs can survive for more than one turn and can produce quanta, while Balls of Lightning are good for a short, but powerful amount of damage. Vote to decide! :)

Definitely balls. Add momentum and you've got a 6/1 attacker for one quanta that can't be blocked. If they have CC, hopefully they'll waste it so you can play a golem. Even if they decide to save it for a golem, that 6 damage adds up.

While I agree that BoL can produce a fair amount of damage, it dies when doing so therefore losing its ability to be cremated unless it is played with momentum. However, the chances of drawing both needed cards (BoL and Momentum) is not always on your side. RoL on the other hand can be left on the field for a few turns without the fear of it suddenly dying due to its own self (although it is left open to attack by your opponent). In conclusion, my vote is that RoL is the much better option to be cremated.

How does that help in a cremation deck?

I guess it would help if you added some light creatures on the side.

I use RoL for a couple reasons, i suppose. Although a 6/1 momentum'd BoL will add some damage, that's a momentum you would probably rather have on a 15/9 golem when a real shield pops up. Additionally, no opponent will ever use CC on your Rol, so you can put it out from turn one if you don't have a cremate and generally don't have to worry about it being taken down (unless you only have one of them and no cremates, then i'd save it in hand for sure). Also, if you have a clogged hand, you can't play a BoL and wait for a cremate, but you CAN play a RoL and leave it on the field for a while. I've only been in maybe one or two situations ever where the damage difference between RoL and BoL made a difference, so i'm going with RoL on this one.

RoL. it doesn't dies immediately, and can be left on field for a longer time.

Ball lightning has been very effective for me.  That extra 4 damage has made the difference for me several times.

i've used both, and while adding extra cards (momentum) can mean a quick, deadly creature, cremation is a fire deck, not gravity.   So I use both.

To me, Balls are just way more useful. I rarely if ever get a clogged hand when playing Kael Hate's golem rush, and the extra damage helps a lot.

RoL.
Ball Lightnings haven't swayed the game very often for me and you can play an RoL, leave it, then cremate it later.
