     Currently, the PvP League is under a system where a player gains 1 point for winning a game and there is no penalty for a loss. However, this does not penalize people who have a low winning percentage, and encourages "win farming". a player could still win the league with 100 wins and 200 losses - which doesn't make much sense. Other possible system are a +1/-1 system , or a +2/-1 system.
     Having our current system is good for some, in that it rewards activity, and allows everyone to play everyone (ie new players will challenge veterans) since there is no penalty for losing. However, someone who goes 11-20 will still be ahead of someone who goes 10-0. If we changed to a different system, where losses are penalized, it would reward the players who actually win more often than the lose. However, it would probably also make new players avoid more veteran or well-known players, undermining the system and spirit of the league.

What do you think that the system for next league should be? Should we reward players with higher win % AND who play often, or just those who play often? I have just presented a few arguments for each system, and there are more out there - please post some kind of explanation with your vote so the community can discuss which system they like best!

Care to explain the difference? to simplify things, this could also be chalked up to +4/-3 working on a ratio.

I (and the majority so far, it would seem) voted for +2/-1. the current system really does just make it a race to play the most games, but +1/-1 would give very little incentive to play. +2/-1 gives a good balance between needing to play and needing a good win percentage.

I was going to do this the first week League was active but then War came and took all my free time. Problem is that it requires a bit more effort than changing two numbers, but I'll try to do it before the next League starts.


Btw bojengles77 here is our unofficial League Organizer so all pressure him enough so that he wants the official title and I can give it to him. :)

I was literally making the poll as you told me that, so why waste a good poll? anyways its nice to know the community backs my favorite system and the system that will be implemented.

And unofficial? Come on make it official!

Sure. I made you a "PvP Organizer" which is a temporary title because I haven't done the "League Organizer" membergroup yet. It's basically identical but with a different name.

Definitely +2/-1.

+1/0: Basically, the more active you are, the more you win. No penalty for losing = active members have more chances of winning. This is the reason I didn't join the League in the first place (until bojengles out-betted me).

+1/-1: Fine, I guess, except that it's rather discouraging to see your score flatlining or even in the negatives.

+2/-1: Best of both worlds. Active members don't have as much of an advantage and you still feel good about yourself. :D
