I think this makes Purify a very viable card in its upped version. Also making it now a primarily water card (upped no longer uses any quanta) does weaken it a little bit though. Where this card will really shine is in upped tourneys with no shards.

I quite doubt it. Looking at the HP difference, SoG can be considered 5 attack creature with momentum for 2 (other), which is quite nice. Upped Purify can be considered 2 attack creature with momentum and immortality for 1 :water. While the first one is comparable to a nice momentum'ed mid-range hitter, the latter is kind of weak and this card slot in the deck probably could be used for something else.

Well it is fixed in the trainer. So basically if you are poisoned it clears out all poison and then adds +1 or +2 to the counter depending on if it's upped or not.

it seems reasonable,
clear all poison and add 1 healing counter
after that, all poison reduce your healing counter

if it don't clear all poison when you play it, it is not a buff but nerf, as a few healing counters are still useless to poison

It took a slot of Feral Bonds in my anti-FG rainbow now, going on 3 days. Had Bonds + 3 shards, where Bonds will provide massive healing against poison and assist greately in EMing. Now Purify can do pretty much all of that, except it also lets me stay alive early game (when I aint got no creatures out yet, or aint got a quint) and does freaking miracles against poison gods (e.g. scorpio and morte). Definitely a good change, the card is perfectly playable now.
In abstract, Shards are better. However, there are many FGs with no-joke perm control capability where I'm pretty much always happy to draw this. As an added bonus, it is not liable to "steal" some critical quanta in a tense moment, and like most others, my rainbow only uses  :water for Permafros so there are always spares around ;)
