I was verbally attacked in a match today for no reason. Guy was calling me a dumbass and i responded by just ignoring him. I stayed calm so he decided to keeep berating me. I dont know where else to put this, but i took a screenie.

I only posted this because he used a racial slur, and other very disgusting insults. I would like something to be done but if nothing happens it's all good.

I actually generally don't play PvP cause of people like him.

I've only played 2 PvP matches in Elements and both players were actually really nice. Is it rare to come across a moron like TheKingJelly did?

I have only played PVP a little bit....maybe 30 matches or so, but everyone has been great with only one exception. He wasn't even that bad just made fun of me when I played stupidly when I was first learning the game, but that should be expected. I don't think this community should tolerate that type of speech using racial slurs. I don't know if there are rules about that in the agreement, but it should probably be added.

I've only encountered two people who've flamed me in PvP1, and I've played a lot of PvP1 recently. So yes, I would consider it rare.

One of the main reasons I strictly stick to PvPing only for Forum Events and otherwise only playing against the AI is because I have had several bad experiences with people with bad attitudes in both PvP1 and PvP2.  The AI can be annoying, but at least I know it's not going to give me any lip for wiping the floor with them.  And if I receive unjust treatment from an opponent during a Forum Event then I know exactly who to report that nonsense to.  I've always wanted a filter to be introduced to the PvP servers, but it probably won't happen.  Also, the Ignore function has never worked for me (has it actually worked for anyone else?) which is unfortunate, but I have removed myself from these situations altogether so that I no longer have this problem.

3. Just because we don't want to go around trawling in-game messages for racial slurs doesn't mean we can't ban you when you're saying inappropriate things. Now, I don't know exactly what you said because I wasn't there, but it sounds like you're the type of guy who just fills the chat with things no one likes to hear and starts using the type of words that get you banned if someone tells you to stop.
4. It's most likely only a 24-hour ban. (You're not worth the data space of a perma-ban.) You have over 20 more days to finish the rest of your CL matches. If you can't deal with 24 hours away from one facet of this community, then maybe you should go to an addiction rehabilitation center.

At point 3 first part, no one is saying you can't ban. At point 3 second part, every single word that comes after "Now, I don't know exactly what you said because I wasn't there" is complete and utter opinion and assumption on your part.

At point 4, you don't know it's a 24-hour ban. It could be any arbitrary period and that is a second problem in and of itself.

I understand this isn't a democracy and there are only a handful of people with ban powers.
But If you do have that power use it responsibly, a ban will hurt a player a lot more than some petty vulgarity ever could (and that's my whole point).

Some people might equate this to a technical foul in a sports game. That's fine, but if you're going to have league gaming with brackets and an Elo rating systems, it might be a good idea to outline exactly what would constitute a technical foul (ban).
Because as it is, based on the whim of a few capricious ops, it has the potential for abuse as we've seen today.

2 reasons why I don't PvP outside of events:

1) People can have serious attitude problems (Like in the example you showed us)
2) Takes a huge amount of time

Anyway it is shocking how many people releases their anger like this

The fact of the matter is that any sort of community on the internet will have a handful of people in power. All moderators have the capability to abuse their power, but the reason that these people are chosen to mods is because they have been shown to be responsible. I've never seen Higurashi ban non-guests without giving a warning first, and choosing to ignore a moderator's warning is your fault.

Whether what you did is worth a ban or not has nothing to do with Higurashi, the moderators as a whole have agreed on a set of rules that the people in chat should follow. This includes forbidding the use of vulgar language, as this would not be a community friendly to all ages if every other line contained a swear word about the difficulties of false gods and what-not. In addition, you have not accurately assessed how much a ban could "hurt a player" since it is only 24 hours out of the many hours you have to participate in CL. The longest ban I've ever seen was a permaban for someone who was ban-dodging a 3-day ban. The 3-day ban was because of repeated infractions. (He got banned many, many times before.) This leads me to believe that anything you've done cannot keep you banned for more than 24 hours.

In addition, bringing this up in a thread about vulgar language between players in the game just so you can defame and insult Higurashi and her decision in an off-topic post wasn't really necessary; it was off that post and off Higurashi's history of good judgment that I made the assumption that your ban wasn't "based on [a] whim."
