DS-Natural and Outline for me. The other ones are too bland and/or dark.

Yep, DS-Natural is very good. I have it as 4th. Being too dark might be a problem to some people but then again if we want to get that Elements feel, we probably have to go with something darker.

I don't see why you'd care what theme people use, just as long as there is a theme they want to use.

I don't really care what theme people use. But the idea is to build a customized Elements forum, and if we do that, it would be nice if people thought it was good and actually used it.

Having a customized, functional forum plays an important part in Elements the Game's brand building. It makes this whole thing look more professional which helps to get more players.

But like I said, there will be other options too. I can download and install a theme in about 2 minutes, so I'm sure that at the end even the most difficult "customers" will be satisfied.

Looks like DarkBreak and Overview are the most popular so far (I picked those two as well).  But I definitely love the ones Chris pointed out even better.

Yes, that's the difference between free and non-free. I would imagine that this design studio does these templates, and then those that didn't come out as great as they had hoped, they give out free, while those that really stand out, they put a price tag on.

But even these free templates are better than some commercial ones out there. I haven't found any better free SMF themes anywhere and I've been looking for a long time.

As I said earlier, it's possible for us to do copy those commercial ones and manually design an almost identical version but it's going to take a lot of time, mainly because of issues with different systems, which is the most difficult and annoying part of web design.

Keeping it simple is always the best option.

The time we save in not designing the whole thing ourselves, we can use to add content and features on our forums, which is always more important than eye candy.

I've written most of it but I haven't sent it yet.

When I emailed him, it took 3 weeks before he even read it.

I have to use a lot of words like "money" and "rich" in the title as well as dollar signs. Hopefully that will make him read/reply faster, and not get picked up by his spam detector

yeah i liked dark break, i think it goes with the elements theme best most of the others are too light and cheery. not exactly what were looking for IMO.

I picked Outline as my favorite. I liked the feel of it the best of them all. Since you said we could change the colors and pictures, I just ignored those with hops that ALL the colors could be changed. >.<

DS-Natural and Overview were my second and third.

This is not about whether you like these forums or not, this is about money. Money going to the development of this game.

When we design that new forum, we will place ads to it that gives revenue to Zanz so that he will have more motivation to work on this game since it's so far been more a hobby to him. At the same time we have a great opportunity to have a upgraded Simple Machines forum with better graphics, better navigation, and any kind of extra features we want.

In the end I don't care if the whole community was against this idea because it doesn't matter. We are all nobodies. Only person who has any say on this matter is Zanz himself, and I don't think he has to waste much time making the decision once he sees the new forum.

Luckily what I've seen is that most people like (or at least don't hate) this idea which is a very good thing. Reception was actually 10 times better than what I expected which shows maturity of our community.

This poll is not whether we are going to have a new forum or not. We do not decide that, Zanz does.

This poll is about what kind of THEME we are going to use as the base for our new forum.

But I know you know all of this already.
