Some people try their best but are jut not native English speakers. (some of them are native English speakers though and don't make any sense at all...)

I'm reading the multilingual (spelling?) topics once in a while and I notice that there are alot of people with good ideas there but they're hesitant to start a topic on the rest of the forum because of their bad English.

People like me should reread their own posts a few times before posting, to keep out spelling mistakes or mistyping. But in general I'd say let people be. I don't think discouraging people to post is a good solution.

There are spell-checkers plug-ins for browsers, such as ieSpell or the one that comes with firefox. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the whole thing into Word and set your spell-check library to English (US) or English (UK)..

But I just find some of them annoying, like someone saying "badest" in the thread-starter and maybe 4-5 posters repeating "badest" in their reply..

Thanks for contributing to the discussion. Others should talk more. :<

Being able to spell correctly is not (unfortunately) a prerequisite to being allowed to start a thread on this forum.

If you see a misspelling that is bothering you, please report it to a moderator and we might edit it.

That's all there is to say here, so I'm locking this thread.

Myes, quite. *puffs pipe*
Hand me the scotch will you? As you were saying, most appreciated, chaps. A toast to the empire!

Silliness aside, I have to add that without it, my reading really comes to a halt. Having worked as an editor, I have that kind of editorial vision. It's a bit like a super power. I can scan, scan, scan, but when I spot an anomaly, my brain just stops. That's how I notice errors, and it makes reading improper language very hard. With some people on the net I can't understand 50% of what they're saying. I'm sorry. I have to work on that.

I too appreciate proper spelling and grammar. I also appreciate proper word use. Today, however, language has evolved and become twisted. Words have strayed from their original use so much, that often you don't know whether you are using a word correctly or not.

I'm sorry that I haven't spoken English long enough to be perfect. Get over it. >.<
