Why in my  :aether mark deck am I supposed to have 6  :aether pillars and 3  :aether pends? The only way I see the differences being useful is against quicksand (used in 2 decks) and I see it being very helpful against steal (used in 5 decks) which is a more widely used FG card. Why give them the quanta they need every other turn instead of just useless quanta?

You're supposed to have an even split to optimize your chances against earthquake/steal, though the benefit is admittedly marginal.
Edit: Assuming you're using a mono deck.

In a mono deck, pillars and pendulums should have a roughly even split to prevent against EQ. You might not go up against EQ, but it never hurts to have the pillar/pendulum split.

Also If your deck play permanent your opponent will steal them over pendulum so it's always better to spilt pillar and plend in case of earthquake or trident

Good point, but there are more mono decks than decks that use EA

The only reason to use a pillar/pendulum split in a mono deck is to help defend against earthquake/trident.

The only reason not to use a pillar/pendulum split is against steal, since you're giving them two choices instead of one.

Since it's fairly rare for steals to be wasted on pendulums, and earthquake is a fairly widely used card, I always use an even split when playing monos, and if using an odd number will use one more pillar than pendulum. (for the steal reason)

The one exception might be in a monoearth deck using protect artifact when expecting trident/earthquakes by the opponent, so that you could protect everything with one PA instead of two PAs for pillar/pend.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using a RoL/Hope against FG's and I don't think that any of them use Trident so it would be a 1v1 between EQ and Steal.

Only neptune has a trident IIRC, and he has no :earth to use EQ. Seism has plenty of EQ though, so a pillar/pendulum split would be nice.
