I think it goes without saying that nymphs are the rarest cards in the game, and at the same time can be some of the most devastating cards in the game if used correctly. However, nymphs are only used sparingly in decks from what I have seem through the elements forums. This would lead one to think that the reason that Nymphs are not used very much is their simple rarity, but I would disagree. I would point the reader to the thread created by CB! (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5189.0.html) about how many nymphs people have, and point out that 77.9% of players who responded had at least one nymph, yet 88.4% of players who responded had no more than five nymphs. What does this mean? Most players have at least a sole nymph, but the chances of this nymph being the right nymph for their deck is slim. Say a player uses a life deck and has gotten two nymphs, the chances of one of those nymphs being a life nymph is pretty slim, so most likely those two nymphs will sit unused in his storage indefinitely. Therefore we have a problem not of pure rarity of getting a nymph, but of rarity of getting the RIGHT nymph.
My proposal: A way to "metamorphosize" one color of nymph into another, at a VERY high cost. Heres how I think it could work; lets say I want to trade my grey nymph into a light nymph. The transaction would work as follows:
Death Nymph (upgraded) + Morning Glory (upgraded) + X Electrum = White Nymph (unupgraded)
What just happened is I traded the upgraded version of my nymph plus the upgraded version of the rare weapon of the element I want the nymph to become, plus X amount of Electrum for the unupgraded version of the nymph I wanted. The amount of Electrum required could be 1500, 3000, 5000, whatever seems fair. So in the end, I gave up my upgraded nymph and an upgraded rare weapon along with a large sum of electrum for the nymph I wanted. The reason this process is extremely costly, and even necessitates the destruction of a rare weapon is so that people could not just change their nymphs on a whim. Nymphs were designed to be rare, the addition of this process would not take much away from their rarity, but it would allow MANY more players to use their nymphs.
Another thing to think about for this metamorphosis could be the need to add in a relic, the rare card won from spinning nymphs which, as far as I know, has no use at the moment.
All in all, I believe that the introduction of this system would allow more players to use their nymphs; and while it would be painful to give up all that electrum and a weapon to complete the metamorphosis, its better than waiting for a year, two years, who knows how long to get that one nymph that you need for your dream deck.
