Converging separation?

Ive been thinking about this for a while now. As elements the game expands and new cards are added, each element will become more and more diverse. With new abilities, the new elements will be able to do things that may be a substitute to the abilities of another element. Eventually, each element will have many different cards with many different abilities, but they can do the same thing as a rainbow. A great example of this is the lobotomize ability. Originally only specific to the element, now  and can lobotomize creatures as well. Basically, as each element grows, they become separate but equal.

what are your opinions on this?

As elements expands, we'll probably also be seeing cards with similar niches in different elements (possibly with very similar abilities as well) and cards that provided new synergies with duos and maybe even trios.

So there will be increased diversity, but I don't think the elements could be considered segregated because of this, just full of variety.

The Devil is in the details.
Aether can remove an activated or innate ability (not perpetual abilities). Darkness, Entropy, Gravity and Life can only replace an activated or innate ability with a universally usable ability.
The game will progress so that each element has an answer to every threat*, however the methods with differ in important ways.

The elements already do have answers to all threats but they will gain more obvious answers over time.

He's saying that over time, if we keep making all the elements rounder and rounder, they will become replicas of each-other.

Like when people say," oh, air has no PC, lets make an air PC card." Over time, all the elements will be able to do everything, thus making them less unique.

That is what he is saying. I replied by saying that
1) All elements already have answers to all threats just not always in an obvious or direct manner.
2) All elements that do not have obvious answers to types of threats will eventually gain obvious answers. (Air has no obvious way of countering a threat from a permanent.)
3) The types of answers will have significant differences between the elements that will be consistent with the element's character.
4) The details have many consequences that will make each element still feel different.
