Minor Phoenix/Aflatoxin https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=15860.msg203274#msg203274

So I was playing Eternal Phoenix and Aflatoxin was in my opening draw with a bunch of Supernovas so I got it out pretty quick on a phoenix. When I aflatoxined it and it died, it didn't turn into a malignant cell, it turned into ash. It's probably not a bug, just like a priority thing. I think that it should still pump out a malignant cell with the ash though...

So what is right? Should it pump out Ash, Malignant Cell, or both?
Both cards say that when the creature dies, it turns into a respective creature so logically, it should pump out both.

I like it as it is. It's basically the only 'as-is' card that can beat Aflatoxin.

There are tons of 'as-is' cards that beat Aflatoxin.

dont know how many 'as-is' that you know Malduk of but i only know of 2 creatures that wont turn into cells upon dying with aflatoxin mark on it (without any outside help of course i.e. Lobo'ed)
1) Phoenix/Minor Phoenix
2) Malignant Cell

note: Ash (upgraded or unupped) will still turn into Malignant Cell if you didnt activate the 'Rebirth' ability

Virus/Retrovirus when you activate their ability won't turn into Cells.

I think he meant Angels counter Aflatoxin by not turning into Cells in the firs place. ;)

That wasn't the case. All he said is that minor phoenix is the only card that can "beat" aflatoxin, which it can by healing. Also, immortal creatures (phase dragon, immortal) can prevent themselves from getting it in the first place.

Also growth creatures just counter-act the aflatoxin poison.

the whole point of this discussion or what kami's talking about ('as-is'), at least to me is about how a creature can evade turning into a cell when they died, not how many ways you can avoid being targeted or killed with aflatoxin
kami knew of only 1, i knew of only 2 and smug, as ancient and wise as he is revealed to us one more
