That doesn't seem like a  very good idea.
Also if you have 8 cards you discard 1 each turn and draw a new one.

The idea is that if your mindgate gives you a nightmare from them, you can play it so they dont draw the nightmare (and they discard 1 card). Then you can repeat it the next turn since they didnt draw it and it is still the next card, and they again wont be able to play anything and thus their hand is locked.

I see, but all I'm saying is it wouldn't work if your opponent didn't have nightmare

Well isn't that true of any combo? Fractal devourers doesn't work too well without it's devourers.

And it really isn't that much quanta, don't forget if it was an upped nightmare it's only 2 aether and 1 darkness. In perfect circumstances, I could get that from one quantum tower ;)

This is not intended as a main strategy you can use all the time. It is just something that the OP noticed you can use if you happen to go against a nightmare deck while using mindgates (a similar trick can be done with ai if they have a rewind and a cheap/free creature out, by using the rewind each time on a creature so they keep drawing it and cant draw the rewind).

If all your saying is it would work well against someone with nightmare then I agree.

In response to Padewan, It is easy to put devourers in your deck, it is hard to put nightmare in other peoples.

Interesting combo. Never thought of that. I see 2 possible ways to come out of this nightmare:

1) Permanent Control or enough Creature Control on hand or field.
That means your opponent has no target or no mindgate for this.

2) Hourglass (only Rainbow).
If you are able to play one card of your hand, you can use Hourglass (or Precognotion), and Nightmare is on your hand.
Hope, you don´t have another.

Edit:
Ok, it´s not a combo, because Nightmare and Mindgate are in the deck of different persons.
