No, there's 19 slots.

I don't count the weapon, shield, and mark as permanents. I count them as weapons, shields, and marks :). IMHO, there's 16.

What about that icon there on the right?
I don't care what it "technically" is :P. It acts completely different from a permanent: You can only have one, it attacks last, and it can be flown. Shields have some effect on your opponent's creatures when they attack and you can only have one. Marks are always there and are indestructible.

Basically, there's a tree that goes like this:
                Permanent
             /          |          \
            /        mark        \
    permanents          equipment
           ^                   /                \
            |              weapon       shield
what I was counting

But does it really matter?

There's 19 permanent slots, including weapon, shield and mark, so you can have 16 other permanents.
Did half of you miss the first post he made??? He said including, so of course not including theres 16 :P

Yes there's 16. However, I think Zans should make the Wep, Shields and Marks a different type

Why make them different? This would mean cards that target permanents (Deflag, Steal, Pulvy, etc) would not work on them anymore, and there would have to be an entirely new set of cards made just to deal with weapons and shields. What is the problem with Weapon and Shield being permanents? They are permanent, after all... and Mark doesn't even matter, it's not even a card, can't be targeted, etc...

Nothing we talk about on this forum "matters". But I'm saying that all the cards in Elements are either creatures, spells or permanents. So if the question is: "Are weapons and shields permanents?", the answer is "Yes they are". They belong to a sub-category of permanents but that doesn't make them non-permanents.

Now you might find it more logical to give them their own main category, but that's just your own personal view (shared by many I'm sure). I could call Otyugh by "Mr. Hungry" because it makes more sense to me, but that doesn't change the fact that it's really an Otyugh. It's better to use the terms and definitions made by the game developer.

Original poster had a question, and Delreich gave the correct answer to it. I would say that this thread is resolved.

The question is: What did the OP mean? *Looks at Tea*

It's possible he was just referring to the slots other than weapon, shield, and mark, since those are so obvious.

And if he WAS, then just saying "19 slots" is misleading. Del's first answer was exactly correct; his second isn't precise enough.

The question the OP had is obviously resolved. I'm just explaining why I had a problem with just saying "19 slots."

My second post was in reply to the BS above it. I figured the image would make it clear enough that three of the slots were shield/weapon/mark.
