Low arena deck plays related to online activity? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=35576.msg447677#msg447677
« on: January 10, 2012, 07:48:04 pm »
Been on plat league for 5-6 months now. From daily observation I belive I get 7-8 plays daily. I have the obsessional habit to check the score every once in a while even though it does not change so fast, so EtG is on about 12+ hours a day. I noticed that most of my plays come in the 12 hours I am not online and when I miss an online day more often than not, get more than the usuall 7-8 plays.
Has anyone noticed something like that? Is arena deck linked with online time? Is there a sweet time zone that gives more plays?(post deck before that time)

p.s. time zone is GMT+2 if that matters

Yes sometimes that happens to me.  Then again, I was online for a bit yesterday and watched my deck go 9-1 and then not receive a single play the entire time I was offline.  Therefore, I'd say the process is random and occurrences like these are coincidental.

What willing said. :)  I've had my arena deck (albeit only once) get 10 or more wins/losses when I was offline (about 10-11 hours); while I'm online, I've gotten as low as 1 play to up to 7 plays.  The random nature of the Arena, while fickle, is the Judge, Jury, and Executioner of which arena decks get played, and which ones don't... if that makes sense. :P

That and the number of people who are farming the Arena helps too.

I think it's basically random.  Yesterday after work I got home and my deck had zero plays while I was at work; today I got home and it got ten plays during the same period of time.  Most of the time I'm getting around 7-10 plays a day, I'd say.  (platinum)  It used to be more like 10-12 when the arena first came in, but it's dropped a bit.  It also dropped a lot around Christmas/New Years, for obvious reasons; it was about half the normal plays for the days around there, as presumably everyone was out doing real life stuff.  (while I was still at my comp playing elements, lol)

Lower leagues get much more plays than higher leagues. I've seen silver decks with 150 plays that were still rated. Luckily higher leagues are compensated by higher win% and more electrum gain per win.

It'd be nice if Zanz released stats about how much each league is played. My guess is silver/gold is played the most, while platinum is played the least.

- I thought rewards for winning were inversely proportional to number of plays (or deck wins?) league gets.

I'd like to see the formula or whatever then.

It'd be nice if Zanz released stats about how much each league is played. My guess is silver/gold is played the most, while platinum is played the least.
I would estimate that Bronze gets the most plays, followed by Silver and Platinum. Gold is generally underplayed, as they're about as difficult to beat as Platinum decks, but it takes a fourth win to get a special spin (not to mention the slightly lower rewards).

- I thought rewards for winning were inversely proportional to number of plays (or deck wins?) league gets.
The base values (20, 40, 80, 160) get adjusted based on how decks in that League fare. As the decks stored get more wins (i.e. more decks lose to them), the reward for that League increases and the other three Leagues' rewards decrease accordingly. Vice versa when a League loses a whole lot.
I'm doing science, and I'm still alive.
