How would removing a minimum deck size affect gameplay? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=63463.msg1249800#msg1249800

Imagine being able to no longer forced to have at least 30 cards in your deck. Obviously, having 0 cards in a deck would mean you lose immediately. Having only a low amount of cards would mean you wouldn't be able to do anything significant before you lost to deckout.

With this in mind, what would be the optimal card amount for various common rush decks? How would this affect speed of rushes?

I think minimum deck size is there to prevent people like me forgetfully going into PvP after removing all cards from the deck, waiting for inspiration for a new one which never comes.

Other than that, I don't think they would have a significant effect. We might see some finetuned Shard Golem decks or streamlined rushes, which would be fine.
And we keep driving into the night

There's been some experimenting with this through various bugs. Smaller decks make the fastest decks more reliable, that's about it. In other words, more 3 and 4 TTW's for SoBe Boomballs and Miss Fire. A smaller control deck will draw the likes of Bone Wall and Dials faster as well, but there will be more RNG losses to rushes. Not enjoyable, really.

During the SoR beta we also had 2 ttw's with Deja Vu rushes. With a small enough deck you could probably guarantee those even if you added some PC (and it has Momentum).

The point of minimum deck size is to force inconsistency into a game, so that what you want to happen intentionally does not always happen. Same concept with a card limit (Consistency can leads to degeneracy).

Given other card games I've played, elements is very generous in this aspect. Compare, say, Elements' 6 limit in a 30 card deck to MTG's 4 limit in a 60 card deck or Hearhstone's 2 limit in a 30 card deck.

As to what'd happen, exactly what higs' said.

I only have to add, for main purpose of your actual question; it would obviously let you ratio your deck for a burst combo nearly every time situation. but with less than 30 you would deck out a lot. many of my decks would run way better at 25 as with my deck presently if I don't win by turn 7 I probably loose anyways. and its usually cause I'm drawing 5 wrong cards too early game.

now the reason I'm actually on this topic; I would love if minimum deck size was removed, only cause I constantly run into the situation where I'm building a deck, need a card try to go to bazaar to get it, only to be reminded I have to throw in 8ish cards real fast so it will let me, then buy the card I need, go back to manage deck, and have to go through and remove those filler cards before I continue focus on building.
