Is PvP dead?

Hello, I restarted playing this great game a couple of months ago after a hiatus of a couple of years. Apparently PvP is either dead or not working for me. In the last couple of months I only managed to play two games. Every time I try PvP I get to the "Waiting for an opponent" message and nothing happens for a long time (the games I managed to play took a 10-15 minutes wait, while other times after far longer waits I gave up). Now the question is: is nobody playing PvP any more or do I have some issue?
If I test my connection with Elements it says I have full connection, I tried from two different networks with the same results. Is PvP really dead?

Random pvp doesn't see much use. Most random pvp these days comes from kongregate, where you can ask in chat for somebody to pvp1 or pvp2. Organized PvP, which uses pvp duel and is hosted here on the forums, is alive and well.

Yes, even though this is a great game, there is not enough people playing to fill the pvp servers, leaving people searching for hours at a time before finding someone

What you can do is get on Kongregate and ask people to play you there, or you can go to the actuall elements chat room and ask people to play you there, or you can join a tournament through the elements forum

Regularly occuring events like tournaments and leagues have no signup thread.

Tournaments are weekly and happen on every Saturday in a rotating timeslot. Each tournament has its own unique set of rules and restrictions. 3/4 of tournaments are unupgraded. Here is this week's tournament.

PvP Leagues go in 3 month long seasons, with close to no restrictions (shards are banned by default, but this can be waived if both parties agree). Leagues work off of an elo system, and the top 6 at the end of each season win prizes. Season 1 of 2017 has just started. Battle League does not allow upgraded cards, while Championship League does. People normally find others in chat to find matches.

Most other pvp events have a signup thread that you post in before the event starts. The ongoing Trinity event and the biggest, War, are examples of this.
