The arena (at least platinum) has been totally out of whack for the last ~2 weeks or so. I've seen it happen before; I suspect someone's doing some kind of hack/exploit to farm platinum at an extremely high winrate, like setting all their opponents to 1hp and 1ttw-ing them with a bot.
That's a pretty grave claim. Do you have any evidence for that so an arena mod can step in?
Not evidence, but merely observation:
- Arena decks suddenly get A LOT of losses in a span of less than 10 hours. This kicks out decks and lots of 1hp decks resurface. Observations were in the arena thread.
- Arena's rating balancing system sees the sudden low winrate and thus tries to balance it out by giving out high rating to wins and low penalties to losses. This causes the huge spike in rating, which is also documented in the arena thread.
- With the actual winrates being back to normal and wins giving too much rating, arena now tries to balance it out by giving negative rating, which is the current problem. I suspect these erratic swings will continue for some time until it balances out.
Thankfully, there are no more changes to the winrate and such, so if a hacker was the culprit, he stopped or he got caught by the game's hack detection whatever thing. Hopefully it's the latter, we don't want this thing to happen regularly.
