Game gets "angry" if you're logged on too long? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2337.msg18925#msg18925

I'm beginning to lean towards the idea that this game gets upset if we're logged in too long.

My reasoning comes from experiences over the last couple days.  While at work, I like to play a quick game vs AI5 while waiting for various work activities to complete (IT professional and alot of my time is taken by "hurry up and wait" items).  I usually run 99% win vs AI5 unless I just get a horrible draw.  However, over the last couple days, I've noticed a trend that as the day goes on and I've played more games.  My draws get increasingly bad.  I've lost 4 times in a row to AI5 2 days in a row now, later in the day after having been logged in for a while and having easily won many more than these losses.  Of course the losses come from completely screwed draws...

Any thoughts?  Is it perhaps developed to get people to leave after a bit and re-log back in?  Maybe an attempt to represent a banner ad or something?

Thanks,
e

log out, clear your cookies, and log back in.  I don't personally believe in any of the theories that say that the random number generator is capable of 'getting stuck', but if it does, that will unstick it.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

Good old confirmation bias, along with an overestimation of the uniformity of randomness, would be my guess.

Maybe your boss used haxx because you are playing Elements all day instead of doing your job? :)

Heh...cept I am root for the entire company ;)...  In fact, I don't even have a backup (which is a point of contention as after 12+ years I'd like to have a true vacation some day...)

It may indeed be confirmation bias but I've noticed it as well. Just to be on  the safe side I always just ctrl F5 when I have an inexplicable string of bad luck and it always seems to get better. Take it for what it's worth.

There's no way to confirm it unless Zanz explicitly states that yes, there is a rage AI threshold where it screws up your draw. But I'll go ahead and say that he won't ever say that, because it doesn't exist. Every random() call in PvE is to the good Math.random() function. The only calls to the "flawed" RNG are in PvP, where duplicate random seeds are necessary for both computers to be in sync. What this means in layman's terms is this: your attributing bad draws to flawed random calculations is based entirely on confirmation bias. No deck is immune to bad draws, and it is quite possible to go on bad streaks of luck. A hard refresh should reset the RNG seed, but it doesn't affect your luck at all.

no, this is more chronic, i get the same problem, where your beggining hand is terrible and the rest of your draws are terrible

I think you could need a little help with cutting the last arm, but you can count on me ;)

I've noticed this a few times before. A hard refresh of my browser cleared it right up :) I haven't noticed it much recently though. Bad streaks happen :( But I like them winning streaks. Just bard of luck based games. The only way the game gets angry if it decides to put you against Seism or Rainbow or the likes :)
