Forum Downtime

If you have been noticing the forum being inaccessible from time to time, you're not alone. I need to put the database on a more dedicated system. I didn't know what sort of traffic the forums would see, and now that War is coming it's only going to get worse.

I'm going to need to bring the forums down entirely for about an hour or two in order to make the transition. Since the forums are at least still marginally functional, I'm going to leave them up until such a time as it's not too much of an interruption. When would work best to take the forums down for an hour or two?

Probably some time when it's night in both Europe and America, since I guess that would be the time with the least traffic. (Sorry Asia and Australia :p)

So I took the forums down for something like 6 hours last night, 2am my time until 8am. Despite all this time, despite getting the database moved and working happily, the SMF forum software just doesn't want to read the new database server port. It just hugs tightly to the old database. Right now, other applications such as the deck manager are using the new database just fine. Everything other than the forums is using the new database just fine. I'm going to continue working on this later after I take a nap. This forum software is crap ;_;

This means the database for the forums is still the old one, so will still be "unavailable" from time to time. Just do something else for a couple minutes and try again. I wish I could have had this fixed by today, but SMF just doesn't want to use the port I'm telling it to use. If anyone would like to help, let me know.

EDIT: In a fit of tiredness, I fixed it this afternoon
