Is this game balanced? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=1498.msg13689#msg13689

Hi all,

i'm new to this game but before i start to play it somehow longer i want an answer to a really important question for me:

Is competive high level PvP really just rainbow decks?

I realize some strong (OP?) cards like totally cheap card drawers which seems a must to play. The game itself favors control decks and a aggro deck are more or less pointless.

So is it really that easy? Rainbow deck (+skill for sure) ftw?

Are there any other decks besides rainbow deck being compative?

That depends. If you want to fight the Fake Gods (FG, if you don't already know), rainbow (control) is one of the strongest decks out there. However, there are some other decks that are just as good. If you want to play L0-3, then most decktypes work, but some decks are stonger against some enemies than others (obviously).

It's still a young game, and there have been at least two 'uber-decks'. Mono-Aether was the thing in the summer, but then Phase dragon was made un PU-able (Parallel/Twin Universe, a card which copies another card). Rainbow is big at the moment, but that may change with a rumored Sudial nerf coming soon. I think there was another, but I'm not sure.

If you want to find decks to play, go to the wiki at http://elementsthegame.wikia.com (http://elementsthegame.wikia.com) (may change soon) , or the Decks section of the forum.

I don't do PvP much, but that's because I don't like the system it uses, but that may also change in the future.

Zanzarino (the developer) has started making new cards within the last week or so, and has let chriskang work on sone of the AI coding, so it looks like work has restarted on the game (Yay!)

Really, just stick around and see - that's the best advice I can give you. Hopefully someone else will be more helpful.

PS - Sorry, too many parentheses.

This game has a pretty good balance imo. It still suffers from the fact that some cards are way too underpowered but there's only a couple of cards I would consider overpowered, especially now that Sundial has been nerfed. All decks have a counter. There are no invincible superdecks.

Rainbow decks are not the ultimate PvP decks. They are so popular because they are effective against False Gods. If you look at the top 50, those people didn't get there by doing PvP. They got there by grinding False Gods 500+ hours, and that's why you see so many rainbow decks in top 50.

PVP is actually pretty balanced in that there are multiple successful control decks and multiple successful speed decks, and neither type dominates the other.
