Part of the reason I think this game is floundering is that the only real thing that can be done is achieving all the cards in the game and then participating in forum-based events. The minute you hit level 80, grab 12 of every card, upgrade half of them, and win a war, there's surprisingly nothing left to go on. Maybe if the quests were expanded...

Also, the AI always stay the same, so there's hardly any appeal to fighting them, and the Arena matches all go relatively the same way.
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

I guess this means it's time for me to bid farewell to EtG.

Thanks for all the memories!

IMO elements does not need new cards now. New cards are not enough to draw in new players. If you aren't playing the game, why care?
What it needs is a new game mechanic. Some non-grindy mechanic. Probably it can be renamed as elements 2.0 and be re-featured in Kong as said before.
The new mechanic should be PvE as PvE content is resistant to gradual loss of playerbase over time (unlike the silent pvp2...).

The problem of EtG is not "not enough cards", it is that only 30-40% of the cards are used competitively. If there is some PvE content that utilise those "unused" cards in a better way (unlike the oracle deck which forces ghostmares/oraclebows mostly) and completely revolutionise the gameplay, elements can sustain its place.
As for PvP, there is a lot of potential besides random matchups. However, if PvP is to be improved first, the main PvP content should begin to detach from the forums. You may argue that the forums are very accessible, but some might be too "shy" (ran out of vocab) to enter the community or wants to play solo only. Even to me, sometimes, the forums feels like an intangible, elitist circle. Why not open the opportunities for the non-forum-goers? It could be said that they give up their opportunities by not signing up, but signing up is somehow a barrier to them.

tl;dr: my signature.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

I'm just getting started around here :P I've been playing less actual game than I have been trolling around Card Ideas, Art, Humor, etc. It is summer time, so perhaps leisure activities like vacations and such lower activity?
Got a problem? Let's settle it with the cards!

I'm working on talking down to people so that I one day can be an Admin!

Well, new cards couldn't hurt.  Some of the reasons there are underused cards is because they lack the other cards needed to pull off a decent combo.  Take Flooding.  Outside of SoP, it doesn't really see much use.  But there are some ideas that are based on promoting the use of Flooding and would [hopefully] make it a more often seen card.  This could be applied to Unstable Gas and the like.

Whatever happened to her?  She was Ms. Elements and then suddenly she vanished.

That's a shame.  Hope she's okay.

It's really quite a shame that EtG has seen such a decline recently.  Been playing on and off since the old forums and I've always loved it. I've gotten friends into it and I wish more people could see this game's potential. I would have to agree with
the forums feels like an intangible, elitist circle.
It seems like it would be kind of intimidating for new players to get started, due to the expansiveness of the forums.

If the game and forum is dying, I'm not surprised. As time passes, the quality of the average game being played improves. Games were not as good 5 years ago, and they were even worse 10 years ago. Game quality is improving quickly, but Elements is being updated and improved at a slow rate. I've seen it happen with game after game. When they stop getting updated, or the rate at which they're updated is too slow, people leave faster than they join.
Somehow still around, somewhat

Seems like eventually EtG will whittle down to so-called "pros" where everyone knows everyone and the community gets exponentially smaller and more tightly-knit. Who knows, maybe having a smaller community will be fun, stay optimistic :D

Our community isn't elitist, although it will get there eventually. A small-community game like this, where PvE is just as central as PvP, would not survive severe elitism.

The problem isn't the forums though. It's the game. Elements is bound by the fact that it's a pet project. This means that there's only one person working on it, and because it's only a hobby, it's not updated as often as it could be. A team of people, dedicated almost completely to Elements, could send it far beyond what it is now. Look at Minecraft.
