Effectiveness of Animated Weapon Decks https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=58544.msg1192121#msg1192121

After a Trials match the other day, Zawadx and I were discussing the effectiveness of 6-weapon 24-tower mono decks.

It was clear right away that Fahrenheit took first place - its damage ramp is far too strong for any other weapon to come close in terms of a race from 100 to 0.

As a bit of a thought experiment, I ran some stats on animated weapon decks, using a 6-weapon 6-Animate Weapon 18-tower format.

This environment is obviously biased against certain elements, whose weapons' primary function is for control instead of damage, such as Electrocutor, Pulverizer and especially Poseidon. On the other hand, certain weapons are given advantages in this situation, such as Eagle's Eye due to the way the AI uses the Animate Weapon card, and to Eternity for the environment of the simulation itself. Despite these points, the simulations have produced some interesting results.

Please note that this data was collected just for fun, and is in no way meant to implicate superiority of any one weapon over another. Just an interesting read if you're into this kind of thing. All data was produced by simulating 1000 games per matchup for each deck. Matchups with winrates between 45-55% are counted as draws.

Was this with unupped or upped? Because some weapons get a nice +2 to attack when upgrading, and although most of them are at the top, a few aren't (like Discord and Arsenic).

Hm, I'm surprised to see Titan up there. I feel like weapons like Discord and Eternity could do better overall when compared to Titan, but whatever.

You can tell it's upped because cards have upped names (Poseidon vs. Trident, Vampire Stiletto vs. Vampire Dagger, Druidic Staff vs. Jade Staff, etc.)

I am not surprised at all to see vampire dagger at the top. The damage + healing is incredible. I would have imagined eternity and owls eye a bit higher though.

Agreed. I too thought the CC would have shut down most of the other decks.

The bottom two rows of the statistics table are Darkness and Aether instead of Vampire Dagger and Electrocutor.

Also I wonder where Long Sword would fit into this. Probably between Jade Staff and Titan?

Hm, I'm surprised to see Titan up there. I feel like weapons like Discord and Eternity could do better overall when compared to Titan, but whatever.

Titan is one hell of a beater. The 13 lethal hits wouldn't be too hard to come by up against Eternities, and over-pillared monocolour decks make Discord fairly ineffective.

I think that the weapon-to-weapon matchups should be colored so that people can see at a glance whether, say, Eagle's Eye won against Fahrenheit.
