Hi everyone!

I've always been curious about the dynamics of nymph frequency at the Oracle, and so I follow the "How many nymphs do you have" thread closely. Of course the only thing it's missing is a total for all posters for each type of nymph. I figure if we gather enough data we can see which nymphs really are the "rarest."

Don't forget that some players have nymphs they requested specifically after winning a tournament ... so maybe there's a bias to the "better" colors. More to the point, there is a statistically significant difference in the probability of getting a Purple (Entropy) Nymph over other colors. Some folks pointed out that that has to do with a bug in the randomization that happens when spinning Oracle's wheel ... either way as you are about to see, the numbers definitely bear the theory out!

Edit: NOTE ON PURPLE NYMPHS:

Because of a glitch in the random-card generation at Oracle, it is actually about twice as likely to get a Purple Nymph as it is to get a nymph from another element. Not that most people mind, since Purple Nymphs are widely regarded as one of the best types!


Nymph Totals


These are the totals, in order from most common type of nymph to least common, of players who listed their nymphs in the "How many nymphs do you own?" poll thread. Rules for being counted are: You must still own the nymph (it can't be sold), and only nymphs on your MAIN ACCOUNT are counted.

You can check whether you are counted in the total by looking at the below section, where I list every player's name who was counted. If you were not counted, feel free to post a list of your nymphs or just let me know to count them.

Hehe ... definitely it makes Grey / Death Nymphs a little more interesting, eh?

What's your other nymph type Corky? I'd be happy to add your stats to the totals.

You're doing a good job here. I suppose the results are semi-predictable, as people will be least likely to sell purple nymphs and most likely to choose them as a tournament prize.
I expected  and  to be higher, since in the majority of the time where the oracle was out, they had less cards than the other elements (making it more likely to recieve a nymph)
However, with all the bashing of the  nymph, I guess it was much more likely to be sold than most others.
Also  seems suprisingly low, on the rare occaison that I PVP with a rainbow there seem to be thousands of them... And I don't think its very likely that they will be sold by anyone who has every pleayed/heard of/seen the name Dark Matter.


Also, if you are going to average the numbers, remove the bottom digit as well if you find the top one too anomalous, for more reliable results. (So exclude purple and grey)
