Picking one element as a favorite is a ridiculously difficult task; every element has something I like about it. However, if I were to spend the rest of my days as an Elements player with one sole element, it would have to be the element I chose as my starter deck:
AETHER
Consider your options:
- Near-invincible creatures that look totally awesome (Immortal/Phase Dragon)
- Absolute stopping power (Dimensional Shield)
- Being able to play your opponent's cards (Mindgate)
- Getting your opponent's creatures (Parallel Universe)
- Precision CC (Lightning)
- Precision stalling (Silence)
- Self-replication (Fractal)
- Making your own creatures 'invincible' (Quintessence)
All-in-all, Aether has something to suit your needs. 8) Allow me to demonstrate by describing my favorite card in the game; Parallel Universe.
Does your opponent have a creature that you want? No problem; a quick PU, and it's yours, my friend. Follow it up with a Lightning and it'll be yours alone. Wrap things up with a Silence to prevent more from coming, or make more clones of the lovely thing, and your opponents gonna wonder what the heck just happened.
Maybe you've only got one creature available to you right now, and you're lagging a little behind on the damage output. No problem; slap one or two Parallel Universe down and you'll suddenly be ahead of the game.
Got mutants? Celebrate by making even more of them! Everyone loves mutants, so why not create an army of them?
Did I mention the part where they ONLY get stronger as they continue getting cloned?
Parallel Universe is a versatile spell that's also a creature at the same time; two birds with one stone. You can't beat that. It's certainly not cheap though; but treat it just right, and you'll never be disappointed.
