it has three out comes; death, abomination, or something weird.

My question has to do with the mechanics of the third option, specifically can the 'something weird' be a mutated abomination?
If you get what I mean.

Ok thanks, so a further question, why can the creature not turn into a Scarab?

Ah, well, if you consult the actual official wiki, you'll find Chimera, Shard of Focus, Fate Egg, Devonian Dragon, Scarab, and Immortal are exempt from the list of possible mutants. The first two make balance and flavor sense. The rest seem to be arbitrary and could either be a fluke in the code or a choice by zanz long, long ago. Perhaps the latter four were deemed unchangeable by entropic forces (Phase Dragon was originally not immaterial like Immortal).

If you need further information I have a thread titled concerning mutants which goes into some detail concerning option 3 after a series of testing by my part I'll admit there may be little tidbits like those that have already been stated here that are missing from the thread. You'll just have to excuse the poor grammar it has never been my strong point.
