Chrysaora or Physalia? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=8696.msg100979#msg100979
« on: June 25, 2010, 08:18:40 pm »
Which do you prefer?
Does the extra damage of the Physalia make it better even though it can be affected by shields (Thorn Carapace, Turtle Shield, Fire Buckler)?

I prefer Physalias because the damage adds up quickly but they make me have to run some sundials to keep them alive in some AI3 matches.

Please state why.

I prefer Physalia, because it's shorter to type it.

Chrysaora, because Scorpio uses Physalias.

Chrysaoras, as Kael stated in a thread a while back supporting creatures shouldn't have attack to protect them from shields, the damage done by chrysaora outweighs the damage done by a physalia within two turns of a delaying shield out.

Definitely Chrysora because of the immunity to shield effects. And I donĀ“t want to pay 1500 for this upgrade.

That's why I cary sundials in my speed poison deck. If a troublesome sheild comes out they can easily protect them and prevent you from taking damage.

Yes but this says chrysaora or physalia not chrysaora or physalia + sundial.

Physalia hands down.

You run into a delay or fire shield or thorn shield what? 2 Games out of 100 in pvp? In champs league, I haven't seen ANY thorn or delay shields, and the only time I've seen a fire shield is against a fire stall which speed poison loses to anyway since it has fire storms and rage elixirs to deal with both chrysoras or physalias (not to mention SoGs).

In a game without a shield blocking you (most of them):

Accumulative Damage
Physalia's Damage, Chrysora's Damage
Turn 1: 2, 0
Turn 2: 5, 1
Turn 3: 9, 3
Turn 4: 14, 6
Turn 5: 20, 10
Turn 6: 27, 15
Turn 7: 35, 21
Turn 8: 44, 28
Turn 9: 54, 36
Turn 10: 65, 45
Turn 11: 77, 55
Turn 12: 90, 66
Turn 13: Dead, 78
Turn 14: Dead, 91
Turn 15: Dead, Dead

So a single physalia will kill two turns earlier than chrysoras. That effect is heightened when you add even more physalias/chrysoras. Its well worth the risk when you run into one of those three seldom-used shields.

So you see, physalia. Hands down.

Four, including Ice Shield (unupgraded).

If you're using physalias, it's an upped duel. In the metagame someone generally won't play a deck if a card that it has like ice shield isn't upgraded.

AKA, in champs league you won't run into ice shields, and in beginner's league you can't use physalia anyway.

Bear in mind that if opponent got some non-shield removal (be that Oty who just happens not to care to get poisoned, Firestorm or whatever) Physalia will deliver some damage outright where Chrysoara won't. Or in lategame topdeck where you need to sneak in just a point or two, there is a difference.
Plus, the Bone Shield is one of the most used ones throughout the PvP side of the game, and if you'd like your Arsenics to get through, physalia will take charges off it where Cry won't.
