BP's 10 Tips for Improving grinding speed https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=11605.msg142560#msg142560
« on: August 20, 2010, 02:26:39 pm »
This is a list of tips for improving your speed when grinding AI3
1)Kill the opponent quick. The TTW study (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,8813.0.html) is good for showing what decks are fast and have good win%

2)Turns to win isnt the only thing that matters. How fast those turns go by is another important factor. The AI 3 Farming Challenge (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,1874.0.html)

3)Lower the quality of the game. Click on Settings at the top right to set the quality to low.

4)Allow Elements to store data on your computer. Right Click the game, click settings, and move the bar all the way to the right to unlimited

5)Dont Play on a site that has a lot of things going on. Kongregate is a prime example of this. Just about any game will be faster if you dont play it on just about any other site. Preferebly play it on www.elementsthegame.com because there is almost nothing else going on, so the game will play quicker.

6)Know what you are grinding for. If you are going for score alone, skip spins. If you want more electrum, then spin. If you are the final spin, and the first 2 dont match, just skip the spin and get back to grinding.

7)ZOOM OUT. This is one I havent heard on the forums yet. YES Elements is a cpu intensive game. If you want it to be less CPU intensive, you can zoom out. To Zoom out, click outside of the game screen, and push ctrl and - (minus) at the same time. This will make the game small. If the game is smaller, it performs faster. do ctrl + (plus) to zoom back in.

8)Speed is important, but make sure you are also using a deck you enjoy playing. If you use a rush deck that you think is boring, and can only stand to play 30 minutes with it, you are probably using the wrong deck. You might want to try a slightly slower deck that you can use twice or even three times as long and still keep your interest. Besides. this is a game, yo are suppose to enjoy it. You may even want to consider switching around decks to keep your interest if necessary. But dont overdo it. Switching decks can take a lot of time. Save the deck code for faster switching  :fire :fire :fire DONT FORGET TO CHANGE TO THE PROPER MARK :fire :fire :fire

9)Focus Focus Focus. Yes, having chat open is fun, but dont let it slow you down. You could waste valuable time. Forums are the biggest culprit of this.

10)Set a goal. If you just randomly decide to start grinding with no guidance, you may stop after 10 battles. Set a goal for yourself, for example, win x amount of electrum or x amount of score before you stop grinding. Having a goal makes it easier to stay focused.

Bonus Tip. the spins have their own quality control. Make sure you lower the quality when you spin to speed that up as well.

Very nice thread BluePriest.  I agree with all 10 points.

I find if I don't refresh the chat on kong periodicaly that it will noticably effects the speed of the game.  On point 8 you may want to add to keep a document with your decks for faster switching.

I think he may have meant at least to some degree that switching to a new deck can take time as in to buy/farm all the cards needed. Or at least thats what I thought bc thats what applies to me a lot :P.

I notice that with chat here as well. It also seems like the game itself, if left on one screen for a while, slows down dramatically. Is it just me or does this happen? btw, added this suggestion

Thats actually not what I thought, but it is true. I probably didnt think of it because I do it too, so I was trying to block it out lol

lol, I thought of this to... the irony is that anyone grinding won't notice and anyone that notices already broke this rule :P

Also, stoopid, little inconsequential fact- using scroll + ctrl zooms in and out as well.

What are you talking about when you say the spins have a separate quality control? I can't find anything that shows that.

I like this. Number 7 was the only one I didn't know about before, but Elements runs smoothly on my computer anyways.

lol.  i think that might be the worst advice ever!  the most important part of grinding is having near zero focus.  grinding is boring, focus on grinding and you will stop playing in no time.

When you spin,  click on settings and lower the quality. That will make it go faster. The spins automagically revert to high quality. Low only stays for the battles themselves
