Am I understanding right, that when using a single set of 1mio games, certain won games are not "wasted" since there is no "end of the set" where you happen to play some three wins before you have to quit, as they are calculated with a 40-game-set?
Also, is there a freeware alternative to this program? When googling it, all I ever got was nasty forms to fill out with my personal information to even get a shareware-version ...
To the first point, yes. Technically, there is an 'end of the set' even for 1 million games, but with a sample that huge, the effect is extremely tiny. Even in the cases I did for 40 game streaks, the difference was something like 0.2 streaks per set.
To the second point... I have no idea. I got matlab back in the day when I was getting my engineering degree; it's a popular piece of software in the field. Any programming language should be capable of doing the same thing, although of course the code syntax will be slightly different. I don't know of any legal way to get a free version.
