Well you would get infinite copies of Dims to your hand, but your opponent would still deal damage at the end of their turn (because they destroyed your shield, duh) so it wouldn't work out anyway

No, it doesn't. It says "permanents destroyed by your opponent.

While codes have no expiration date, there can always be database snafus that are out of anyone's control. The longer you wait, the more likely the odds.
