When you went to see the Oracle on April 1st, you would always get a Holy Cow as your pet. Holy Cow had an ability called "Moo" which sounded cool but didn't actually do anything.

Idea was to post a fake quote by Zanz, where he explains how Wizzards of the Coast has bought Elements.

When I first came up with this idea, I thought it would be too far-fetched and nobody would fall for it. Luckily I was wrong.

It took me maybe 45 minutes to write the thing, another 15 minutes to do the logo. I used Google to get the name "Peter Adkison" and "Renton". The team leader "Brian" I chose by random. I tried to mix in some plausible sounding things so that the totally ridiculous things like changing Pillars to Lands wouldn't be so obvious lies.

Idea was to use the "bad word filter" in our chat, but instead of using bad words, I would use the most popular words in English language. Also when filtering the words, I would use "elements" instead of "***".

I got a list of 300 most popular words and removed all the 1, 2 and 3 letter words. I also had to remove some words that conflicted with "elements".

Here is the final list:

So every time someone used one of these words, the chat would change it to "elements". This resulted in a 12 hour chaos in the chat room, with many interesting discussions and a lot of nerd rage.

Magic the Elements was rather hilarious - but not in itself. It was the replies of the other members of the community that made me lol.

Aah, I knew a "most common word" list was behind Elements Chat. I was just curious that words like "the" and "on" were not replaced, but it seems I got my answer. That one was fun, too.

I didn't actually notice the Radio thing because I muted my volume.

Can't wait till next year.

Aww. Nearly double the ammount of words i had on my notepad to avoid.
(keeping a list allowed for quite easy chatting inmo, still'd was very funny to see on others.)

My favorite prank had to be when you made everyone masters of the opposite elements.  Seeing Essence's signature when he was master of fire made me laugh so hard.

Sorry, I didn't fall for MtE, but thats more or less because I was involved in a multiple-site scam for April Fools somewhere else where I moderate.   That sort of thing didn't scare me.  I loved the radio and filter ideas though, and I would've appreciated them more if I had opened the chat...

I think I had the most fun with the elements chat.  Though the radio thing got on my nerves after a while because vrt refused to turn it off for the whole 5-6 hours we were online.  :| 

Still, it was a pretty awesome day, in my opinion.  Had lots of laughs thanks to the censor-fail, especially at the beginning.  And, of course, the boatloads of super-gullible members were hilarious, as well.  Though it was sometimes hard to tell who was really falling for it, and who was just playing along really well...   

Anyway, thanks SG and Zanz, for all the hard work you put into yesterday.
