Ambassadors

Just something I was thinking of recently.

I spend most of my time on Kong, mainly cause I have friends there I chat with a lot, but I come across a lot of new players there and I do my best to give them helpful advice, while directing them here, and I've noted other regulars do as well (jmdt, for example).

I was wondering whether or not it might be possible to develop an ambassador program here on the main site. Emphasize people's efforts in getting new players into the game by going out and drawing them in. Perhaps get a core group of people that are willing to go forth and network on different sites to help new players drift here and to the grand world that is Elements. Maybe even a reward system of some sort.

This is completely abstract in my head at the moment, so I am not sure just what to suggest to make it more real, but I figured either there is a program already in existence or maybe someone wants to help create one. I also noted ScaredGirl mentioned something similar to this on another thread, so maybe linking an ambassador program with that would help?

I can hardly see the Kong forum going well, because of one reason: The Kong forum is unmoderated. There are no moderators and sticky threads to answer FAQs, help newbies, and so on, so the place is flooded with n00bs. There is one guy, wolfunit, whose Kong name is qazzaq123, who helps most newbies on Kong, but by himself I don't think it's enough. I occasionally go there and help some people, but it's just not going to work without forum moderators and more sticky threads.

The best way to go about this is, IMO, appoint a bunch of Ambassadors that will become moderators in the Kong Elements forum. Then we can organize the place better, have more sticky threads to answer questions, help newbies better, etc. Wolfunit is an excellent choice, and I think I can do it as well. Maybe SG can send a PM to Kongregate admins, explaining what we want to do, etc, etc.

Jmdt and I go there too, helping newbies with decks and directing them to threads in this forum. I think it's a more unofficial thing though, and it should stay that way. If you want to help, go ahead! You can even write your own guide, ask it to be stickied, and direct noobs there.

Wolfunit doesn't play much anymore and has other interests now so he may be a poor candidate.

Besides there's a growing number of forum regulars that play on Kong; ~ 6 of the top 50 play on Kong almost exclusively.  Since I've started, I've worked on migrating most of the veteran player to elements chat room 1, which is now more active vetrans than the official chat most of the time.  Having a chat moderator in the community would be wonderful, but when the vetrans start mass suting the point gets across as well.

Generally i consider it better to skip the Kong forum and just send all the noobs over here.  Keeping 2 forums updated would be a nightmare, but could be worthwhile.  If anything we need to put more time into organizing the wiki before appointing people to the Kong forums.

I never thought of using the Kong forum, but maybe the occasional post would be cool.

Getting some mods whom are dedicated players would be choice.

My idea wasn't really about getting all forum-y about driving newer players here as much as it was organizing something that eminates from this forum and reaches out. Maybe 20-30 people that have a nice forum post count here who are willing to play kong elements and get more players over to this site was what I was more looking into. Or something to that effect.

I go by the name DarkFeelingWolf on Kongregate and sometimes i help out. im just there for the many threads and sometimes to post new card ideas.

Oh qazz, I remember him! We used to be pals in the chatroom RODG, since we both like 2 awesome games (Elements and -censored- game).

For what it's worth, I lurk almost all the time in Chat room #1 on Kong and my login is "tarrasquebeast"

Also, this may sound newbish, but is there direct advertising of some sort that brings new players directly to this site to play Elements or do new players get here through portals like Kong?

Yeah, there are usually 300-400 people playing on Kong at a given time.  I've seen over 600 from time to time.
