A starter guide to upgrading cards and facing false gods - By a (almost) newbie https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=16552.msg211906#msg211906

This is a guide for all the starters who (like me) are getting frustrated on how to get along on this game. at first i started with the life element and tought that this was relative easy (only fighting AI3) . But soon i started to get interesested in taking on the AI4, AI5 and even AI6. At first i tought that it just was nearly impossible to get cards upgraded and book good results on the AI5 and AI6. But i did it and want to share with all those frustrated players how i did it in a step by step plan :).

1. getting started

obviously choose your element and start by modifying your deck to a 30 card deck .
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,1190.0.html ( thanks goes to our global moderator jmizzle7)
:aether :air :darkness :death :earth :entropy :fire :gravity :life :light :time :water

2. Questing

go do the quests fighting ai2 and ai3 , selling and buying a card , get 150 points , get 500 points etc...
(after completing the 500 points quest i sugest picking the Fahrenheit card cause you could use it in a deck i'm gonna sugest later, but the weapon you want will depend on the deck you ultimatly will want to use , tho you get quite some weapons from dueling T50)

3. Getting ready to take on the Top 50 (T50)

this part is what got me some good rare cards and the money to upgrade. the deck i used is a fire rush deck (most T50 decks are made to fight a false god and can be beaten with the deck i use)

this is the deck that i use  (this is the original http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11026.msg145422#msg145422 mine is modded 1 card)

 :fire 5 fire pillars
 :fire 2 crimson dragons
 :fire 4 deflagrations
 :fire 6 immolations
 :fire 1 fahrenheit
 :light 6 photons
 :fire 5 lava golems
 :underworld 1 hammer

Mark : Earth  :earth

with this deck i get a 75~80% winrate with 10% elemental mastery rate. the real sweet thing here is that you have good chance of getting rare cards and weapons. selling these (which you don't need anyway) well get you a 150~250 electum boost with each rare card.

4. upgrading cards

after you get 1500 coins you can go upgrade a card in the quests window. i advice you not to randomly upgrade cards you have in your deck manager but go to this forum and look for a false god killing deck that you like , buying those cards and upgrading them. i have chosen the 40 card rainbow deck made by Scaredgirl
( found here  : http://elementswiki.co.cc/decks/almost-non-upgraded-false-god-rainbow/)
and i upgraded 7 cards of this deck in one day following my own guide. (in 3 to 4 hours i think).

5. Going head to head with a false god

after following the previous steps you will probably be ready to go fight false gods. and with that i wish you good luck.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st addition : with my thanks to Mastermind79

- alternative FG killers

if you don't like the rainbow deck here are some alternatives
http://elementswiki.co.cc/decks/anti-false-god-decks/
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5656

- usefull cards to have and upgrade

:underworld yellow shard will upgrade into shard of readiness and makes the cost of your cards ability 0
:underworld green shard will upgrade into shard of gratitude and will recover your health with 5hp every round
:underworld white shard will upgrade into shard of divinity and will give you +20 max hp
:entropy nova is a good card that gives you one quanta of each element and upgrades into supernova and gives 2 quanta/element
:gravity otyugh is a great control monster that allows you to eat weaker monsters (less hp) and give your otyugh +1/+1 upgrades into a stronger version
:time scarab : like the otyugh can eat monsters to gain strength upgrades into elite scarab which has +1 attack
:time hourglass is a permanent time card that allows you to draw a card at the cost of 2 (or upgraded 1 = electrum hourglass) time quanta
:time sundial will stop monsters from attacking and allows you to draw a card at the cost of one light quanta (not a good idea to upgrade these)
:death boneyard : this death artifact will summon you a skeleton (1/1) everytime a monster dies and is a great combo when used together with otuygh/scarab (upgraded version summons elite skeletons)
:death bonewall : a death shield which starts with 7 bones (one is destroyed stopping an attack) but will add 2 bones everytime a monster dies and thus also good in combination with an otyugh/scarab
:entropy fallen elf : can mutate weak monsters like skeletons into random more powerfull abominations or random creatures with random abilites but can also sometimes kill your monster. upgrades into fallen druid which never kills your monster
:light miracle is a costly card coming at 15 light quanta but can be a lifesaver because it will restore you health to the maximum -1 but will then consume all remaining light quanta. upgrades into improved miracle that works the same but costs 12 light quanta

- 5 fire pillars

- 4 deflagrations
- 6 immolations
- 1 fahrenheit
- 6 photons
- 5 lava golems
- 1 hammer

Mark : Fire

Here's the deck:
Code: [Select]
4t5 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f2 5f2 5f6 5f6 5f6 5f6 5f7 5f9 5f9 5f9 5f9 5f9 5f9 5fa 5fa 5fa 5fa 5fa 5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9 5l9
Notes: Hammer is useless unless you want :earth mark, with :fire mark a short sword is better.
Personally: I would use mark of :earth, and somehow fit some phoenixes in, or splash in the other elements.

IMO, the Mostly Unupped FG deck is not as good as Essence's Duo FG Killer (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5656), which has only two upgrades, but again, that is opinion.

I would add a note about "good" cards to upgrade, for example Nova, Photon, Immolation, Otyugh, Hourglass, etc. that can find a place in many decks. Also, something about shards.

Other stuff: Possibly suggest picking a Lobo and going for Rol/Hope.

Good job here, I just thought this stuff could be improved.

thx for the advice. and like you noticed i got the mark wrong , ofcourse i meant earth mark ,else the hammer is indeed pointless and it would be hard to get the golems on suffcient strength. also as  my short intro sugests , this is the strategy i used and i got me sufficient money to upgrade cards :) i just tought i'd share with others. improvements are always welcome and i'll update the post to your comments. and on the topic of upgrading... i have no clue on what makes a good deck so make some good remarks and i'll add em to my original topic. i myself now squat of the subject

Nice post, OP!

Having been into the game for some two months now, playing to and from, just starting to be able to handle some FG's, I still have a really hard time deciding on upgrades. The Duo FG Killer deck was the first I used to take on the FG's and even though it was sometimes frustratingly slow and occasionally susceptible to bad draws, it was a nice experience. So now I'm upgrading the cards of that particular deck one by one, and taking it from there.
