Winning Between Turns Ending = Winning on the Previous Turn? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=30989.msg393549#msg393549

Yesterday while messing around with Da Fastest Speedbow Eva!, I noticed something strange with Unstable Gas that I had not paid attention to before.  Apparently if you activate Unstable Gas and use it to finish off the opponent, the turns to win is counted as you winning on the previous turn rather than the turn you're currently playing through.  So for example, if you had just ended your 4th turn and then killed the opponent using Unstable Gas on the 5th, then the win is clocked at 4 turns instead of 5.  The same also applies to Fire Bolts, Ice Bolts, Lightnings, Nightmare, damage from Voodoo, and Drain Life.

I understand the reasoning behind this, but I'm not certain if I agree with it.
The game counts a turn passed based on whenever you press spacebar/clicked end turn.  That's simple enough.  But if you're currently playing out your 5th turn then that certainly means that there's no going back to the 4th turn, yes?

It's not even close to being critical, but I'm fairly certain that in the scenario above the game should be considered a 5 turn win rather than a 4 turn win.  Any other thoughts on this?

Really, just start the turn counter at 1 would solve this problem, if you think turn 0 wins are ridiculous lol

Theoretically 0 turn wins shouldn't be possible, but that's not really the point here.

By increasing the turn count by one, that also means that games that legitimately were completed in 5 turns are now classified as 6 turn wins.  So the problem's actually only being made worse in that respect.

Win!

Just have it add to the turn counter at the beginning of the turn instead of the end.

Does the turn end, change? If you win the coin toss, does the turn change to the next on your opponent's turn end. Or your turn end on the next time around?

Example:

Win Coin Toss:
Turn 1a: You start, end turn.
Turn 1b: Opponent start, end turn.
Turn 2a: Your turn, end turn.
Turn 2: Opponent turn, end turn.

Lose Coin Toss:
Turn 1a: Opponent start, end turn.
Turn 1b: You start, end turn.
Turn 2a: Opponent turn, end turn.
Turn 2: Your turn, end turn.

In those cases, winning on Turn Xa would result in only half a turn.

I could be wrong about that, but the Winning by Spell Damage/ Turn count seems perfectly normal to me.

Whether or not you win the coin toss is irrelevant to how direct damage affects your Turns to Win.

Case 1:  Opponent wins coin toss.  8 Fire Lances used on turn 2b will result in a 1 Turn to Win.
Case 2:  You win coin toss.  8 Fire Lances used on turn 2a will result in a 1 Turn to Win.

Furthermore.
Case 1:  Opponent wins the coin toss.  Assuming GotP is discarded at some point results in:
Turn 1a:  Opponent plays a card, end turn.
Turn 1b:  You play a card, end turn.
Turn 2a:  Opponent plays a card, ends turn.  Discards GotP, resulting in a loss.
The duel is still counted as a 1 turn win.

Case 2:  You win the coin toss.  Assuming GotP is discarded at some point results in:
Turn 1a:  You play a card, end turn.
Turn 1b:  Opponent plays a card, ends turn.  Discards GotP, resulting in a loss.
The duel is still counted as a 1 turn win.

So the turn counter clearly increases each time that you end your turn.

majofa's solution works perfectly.
