What if we could buy cards -- no, not like that... https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2460.msg19967#msg19967

What if Zanz would take, say, $50 via Paypal to add a new card to the game?  It would have to be balanced, programmable, and not add a massive new aspect to gameplay, but for a simple card (no more complex than, say, Crusader).

I don't know if that would even begin to cover his time, but it'd be fun for the community, and more cash-in for him, which means it's easier to spend more time programming this awesome game.  :)

I know, it's a pipe dream...but it's a fun one.  I'd probably drop a couple hundred a year on a new card of my choice every few months. :)
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

Interesting thought. The only problem is see is that everyone would try to submit overpowered cards, or even worse, cards with their username on the title, like "Essence of Life".

Also $50 is a lot of money for a single person. It might not be a lot for you or me but your average young gamer won't have that much to spend, and will maybe feel left out.

How about this: the community chooses a card by having a card competition. Then we make this donation counter thing that updates when people donate money. When it reaches $50 Zanz will make that special card. This way even the poor people could participate with $1.

Or we could have both.

or maybe we will raise 50$, and when we will get it, then Zan will be obligated to make a new card of HIS idea. this would give us all a chill of waiting for new card ('cause U will not know what it would be ;) )

if we want Zan to make a specific card, then maybe some ppl dont want to spend money on a card they know, they will not use

Yeah but if have have a vote, and Zanz makes the winner of that vote a reality, a big percentage of the community likes or wants to use that card (otherwise they wouldn't have voted it).

If we pay for only Zanz's ideas, it's exactly like it's now, only now we are forced to pay to get any updates. Bad move.

When the community chooses a card, it's "our" card and more people will donate to get "their" card in the game.

Of course this would only be extra. Zanz would also at the same time add his cards to the game like he's doing now.

Great idea.  I like it.  Zanz get more money, we get more fun.  Win/win for everyone. :)

Those cards should then be sold on teh market, some people (Like me) are unable to pay, in my case i'm not even 18 yet, but i love this game, and it would really stink if a great card is made, but i can't get it because i couldn't donate

You don't get it. We pay for Zanz to create the card, to put it in-game. Than it will be buyable(or maybe rare?).

P.S. : I like how you say you're not even 18 yet and your personal text is "Veteran"

I suspect that obliging Zanz to add specific things to his game (even if we are "the community") would be a bad idea.

My take on this is as follows:

 1. Specific competitions are established to show new cards. These would be in several forms and would allow for the variencies in devlopment between the different Elements and thier card types.
 2. These competitions are then voted for and the top 3 go in a list that is posted for redevelopment of the idea. Most if the time this would not be needed but it is good to have a specific place to make ideas work and offer what would happen with various ingame combos.
 3. After a few weeks of Devlopment in this form Zanzarino would then take the (hopefully) finished card and product and insert it into a beta version for testing.
 4. We then test it in game and enjoy the card in the way it was meant to be and voila a new card for the game.

Along the way we create a vibrant, involved and happy community of avid fans of the game with valid input and hopefully a few deep pockets to help out when things get tight.

Yours

Scyther
