Right now we have to pay 1500 electrums for every card that we want to upgrade. But I think it'd be far better if different cards needed different amounts of electrum, because there are some upgraded cards that are just not as good as others. There could be 4 different categories:

1: (1000e) Pillar/Pendulum cards
2: (1250e) Common cards
3: (1500e) Rare cards
4: (1750e) Super rare cards (Marks/Nymphs)

3: (1500-1750e) Rare cards
4: (2000-2500e) Super rare cards
Err... there are 3 types of people in this world. Those than can count, and those that can't.
Anyway, I personally like this(I'm poor), as it takes as much to get a QT as an EE? Madness!

This is a rather nice idea. Much better than the bog standard 'upgrades cost too much/not enough'. I fully support something like this (although I don't entirely agree with the proposed costs)

@pwnzor99: I was in a hurry and my original idea contained 5 categories, but I changed it while writing and I forgot to change the number afterwards. That is all :P

@morningstar: The numbers can be discussed. Do you have anything in mind?

@Blasting-light: Why? Too expensive? Super rare cards demand super prizes :P

Shards/Marks
Shards are not super rare.
Marks/Nymphs would be more appropriate.

I think costs would be better off as this.
pillars/pendulums - 1000
common - 1250
rare - 1500
super rare - 1750

2500 for an upgrade just sounds a bit too much to me, especially considering these are the hardest cards in the game to get hold of.

I don't think the cost of upgrading super-rare cards matters that much anyway, since most people leave them unupped xD

Some cards aren't as good for upgrading as others, but you get a choice of what to upgrade and when.  Pillars, for instance, are a great thing to upgrade (not sure why they are cheapest on your list...) because they are nearly impossible to win upgraded via FG or half blood, and they are able to go into any deck that uses a specific element, so they count toward more than, say, a FFQ that will go only into a certain kind of deck.

Others are not so good for various reasons.  Something like a fallen druid can make great mutants for you, but at the same time, they lose their CC abilities (unless mixed with another card, and even then, its shaky) and so, while its a good upgrade, not something that you will want in every case. Or a rare, as you mention, like morning glory, gets only +1 damage, not a big deal (only 14% more damage for all that money!)

Others can be downright bad to upgrade.  A fire nymph is more likely to be useful with the slightly cheaper, slightly weaker effect.  It is something you likely don't want to upgrade.

But, if you were paying attention, I just showed an example of a super rare card that you wouldn't pay 1500 to upgrade, let alone more, a rare card that gains less than most other cards, a common card that gains a lot in many circumstances, but isn't always going to be worth it, and mention that upgraded pillars are maybe the best investment, a full 180 from your suggested prices.

My conclusion, just leave it as it is.  1500 is a lot, but not so much that you won't make it eventually, and its better if its up to each person what value to put on upgrades, rather than pushing a formula that could make it even worse.
