Hasten anomalies with full hand https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=1677.msg14818#msg14818

:-[ Situation:  You have 8 cards in your hand and you are unable (or simply don't want) to play any of them. You have active Sundial/Golden hourglass cards in play and you have enough quanta to use them.

:( Problem 1: You can use the hasten ability but the drawn card (and some quanta) will be lost.

>:( Problem 2: You are unable to discard a card before the end of turn, though it would be important to make place for the new card and to prevent such card loss. It can be very annoying that you know that you MUST and you WILL discard a card but you cannot do it in time.

 8) Suggested solution: A "Discard" button might be handy in such situation. It's not a frequent scenario but sometimes could be very useful.

;) Extra tip: To make discarding interesting even if you have 7 or less card it could return the cost of the discarded card (15 light quanta for a Miracle, 2 random quanta for a shard, etc). But this is not a must. Discarding possibility before the end of turn would be the really important thing.

This is in the wrong section. You should put this under requested features and feedback.

It's an interesting idea, but i can't say i like it. I like how it's done now, almost like a penalty. besides, you shouldn't be drawing cards with a full hand period. that's just stupid.

OK, I can accept that but then hastening should not work. I miss a "you have already 8 cards in your hand" message or something like that instead of hearing the clicking sound while losing a card and some quanta. I could suggest the discarding possibility in another topic but this part is definitely a bug (however, not a serious one).

No. I believe this is programmed in purposely as a penalty. same thing happens when you use a creature ability and then decide not to and click cancel, you don't get the quanta back. same works with every single permenant spell. And you don't lose a card as far as i know. It just uses your quanta. I've done it on accident several times and i never lost a card before of it.

Sounds weird to me. But it's just me, maybe...  ::)

I don't remember which forum topic it was in but it was already stated that when you use an ability, perm card or creature, and then cancel it you do not get the quanta from it back as a penalty. So though I am not 100% certain on the matter, i believe this is the same thing.

It might be done on purpose, as a penalty, but even if it is that doesn't mean it's a good way of doing things.

If you try to play a critter with the board already full, you get a message and nothing else happens.
That's what should happen when you try to hasten with a full hand, or use queen or deja vu with the board full, or play animate weapon with no weapon.
Likewise, cancelled abilities should be properly cancelled, i.e. not have cost you the use of that ability nor the quanta.

As for the suggestion, I'd like a discard button too. Once that's in place, make attepmts to end turn with eight cards simply show a message and nothing more.

I've moved this over to feature requests; I have also added this to the list of things to ask Zanz about in chat just to check that it's intended behaviour as this behaviour has been in the game since Hourglasses, AFAIK.
