Newbie impressions https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2382.msg19308#msg19308

I'm very new to this game - won 52, lost 36, and playing against top 50 or elders - usually winning the elders, and if lucky winning the top 50's.

I've picked up 3 rare cards (miracle, pulveriser and vamire stilletto  not much use in 1 pack!)

But it's stagnating quickly.  The long and the short of it is that my black deck is as good as it gets without a wholesale change, and experimenting to see in what direction to change is expensive and pretty impossible- and would be awfully fustrating if the ideas for a new deck are plain wrong.

The jump from elder to top 50 is massive- elder sets are well thought out decks - with a few rares.  THe top 50 are maxed out and I can't help thinking that those who were playing at my level when the game started had a far more benign top 50 to grind against.

THe long and the short is that you start off with far far too few cards.

What could be a very simple and elegant solution is to add a few extra quests, certainly a level of cards between top 50 and elder.

By beating these quests you open up a 2nd then a third full deck as 2 seperate quests.

THese decks must be propper playable decks (so must have a combination of creatures and pillars, and at least 30 cards) so that you can't just sell em all off.

Just an idea of what would keep me intereseted, because right now playing the same deck over and over is reaching a point....

So anyway, those are just my vague newbie thoughts.

I agree that there comes a big "wall" in front of newbies pretty early on.

Some people disagree with this but I always recommend players to skip top 50 altogether. There are some very good decks in top 50 and also tons of control decks which make the matches last a long time. When you want to become rich fast, you have to follow this formula:

GRINDING EFFECTIVENESS = MONEY EARNED / TIME SPENT

I believe the fastest way is still to grind level 3 opponent until you have a handful of upgraded cards, and then go straight after False Gods. This of course requires some skill and understanding of CCG's in general. For some players this strategy won't work.

Here's an old guide I made: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,522.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,522.0.html) . It's a bit outdated but the basic principles are still the same.

Good luck.

Yeah, speaking from own own personal encounter with Elements, went something like this.

1. Create account, think wow, awesome, okay, amazing.
2. Reset my account 12 to 15 times to get a feel for each of the Elements...
3. Eventually settled on a Firefly Queen Deck (Air and Life)
4. Grinded the Elders for ages, got my 500 score, changed my deck to Speed Poison (Death and Water)
5. Tried PvP quite successfully for a while, then realized upgrading cards costs lots and lots of money.
6. Regretted picking arsenic as my Rare Weapon... Still havn't managed to get an Eternity yet.
7. Spent a week grinding PvP's and Elders to earn enough money to change to a Rainbow Deck
8. Started False God farming with a success rate of about 10%.
9. Now I have 12 Upgraded Cards out of my total 52.
10. My success rate against the False Gods is still below 40%.

So all in all, the key to this game is to play it lots. I agree the addictiveness does run out after a while (I played it solidly as soon as I found it), but there is new content on its way, and weekly tournaments for you to try out your luck. This game will go far, stick with it, or alternatively bookmark it and come back in a couple months ;).

Actually, don't do that, you've already become part of the Forums! Help us make it better!

Spek to you lanidrak(karma)

Really the only diffrence from the earlier version and now is that T50 used to be highest level. More levels with hightend difficulty was added later on.  The diffrense is the upgraded cards and the reason noobs percieve to hit a wall. The game was based on grinding and even those that were there earlier had to take the long way to get were we are now. So many people want to get instant win... in other words expect to have a fairly easy and way to reach max level. Getting the perfect deck takes awile and many games.

I started out with life, earned enough money to change to aether and stuck with it for a long time. After getting most cards in the game I started testing around. I just percieve this wall people are talking about as the simple instant gratification people want instead of working for it.
