Chance to win upgraded cards https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=1788.msg15623#msg15623

This has probably been covered somewhere here already, and I'm sure 99% of the people that read these forums were early adopters or have been playing for ages and have most or all of their deck upgraded anyway, but starting off in this game takes excruiatingly long.  I have a reasonable successful deck with 7 upgraded cards now, but getting 1500 gold to do so winning 20 gold a game with even rare cards selling for 138 is horrible.  If you are playing against an opponent with upgraded cards and win, you should have a chance to win those upgraded cards.  I've only seen this happen when defeating the gods, and unless your deck is built specifically to defeat the god decks, you often don't have a chance.

So...
Either the upgraded cards should be accessible after a win in top 50 and PVP play, or the gold for beating higher ranked or more difficult opponents should be increased much more expontentially than it currently is.  The more gold players can gain, the more likely it is than there will be a diversity of decks, so the only decks capable of gaining gold quickly (the ones stacked to play the god decks) aren't the majority created and so that players can quickly switch up their decks if they want to.  I hardly see how allowing players to change up and upgrade their cards more often hinders the gameplay.  If nothing else, it should make it more competitive.

You can win upgraded cards from Lvl 5 Half-bloods, though that chance is small. Plus if you Element Mastery a Lvl 5 you win 80 electrum, so only 20 EM wins will net you an upgraded card, and maybe, if you are lucky, an upgraded card win from the slots. That's my method and i can gain around 1-2 upped cards a day by doing this, since my deck can't take on a FG just yet.

I don't find AI5 ever gives worthwhile rewards.  You get basically as much cash from grinding AI3 (or even top50), and the chance of winning an upgraded card is tiny compared to vs. false gods.

Unupped decks can win often enough vs false gods to make grinding them better than grinding AI5, even though your winrate might be something like 20% vs gods compared to 80% vs AI5 (as long as you know which gods are hopeless to fight, anyway--you just quit those matches immediately to cut your losses.  I quit immediately against Divine Glory, Rainbow, Scorpio, Obliterator, Seism, Hermes, and Graviton.  I also quit against Morte if he gets an early Arsenic and I have no Steal.  The rest were doable often enough to be worth the try even before I started upgrading my deck).  This probably nets you less Electrum per match, but you get in easily twice as many matches since you just abort half of them.

I think this prize discrepancy is ridiculous but that's rooted in the absurd difference in cost between upgraded and unupgraded cards.

I started earlier this week and have maybe 15 upgraded cards now, every one obtained either from false god spins or funded by selling false god spins.

I do think winning upgraded cards from top50 would be too easy.  I was farming them with an unupped deck earlier today and ended up making several hundred electrum as well as grabbing almost a full set of Shards (and some weapons).  I do think AI5 could use more upgraded cards though so winning them is not such a once-in-a-blue-moon event.

The problem seems to be that AI3 grinding will become dull sooner or later and that we have to do it in order to upgrade the cards we need. So the solution could also be to add one or two features to the AI3. Like running a gauntlet of ten matches that you will need to win entirely for your reward. Or a game with ante, where winning will improve your chances to win a card while loosing will result in having a card stolen from you.

I might be kind of weird, but I liked the incredible amount of work it took to upgrade my deck. It kept me going and I was almost disappointed when I fully upgraded my deck because I had nothing to get excited about when I won with it except to start changing my deck into something else and experiment more (which I did).

While I agree that the request is logical, it would also make farming t50 so incredibly lucrative. Often t50 is even easier than level 3 because the ai plays those custom decks terribly, and some, I suspect, were just made for people to farm. Sometimes the computer plays t50 in such a way that it's easier to beat than level 0, and with the number of upgraded cards you see in t50, it would be so much faster and easier than farming fgs which is where people generally earn the upgraded cards.

PVP woud be a bit more sensible IMHO but at the same time it's tough since I have a 12k score and I still lose to a total beginner sometimes because of a glitch that allowed him to firebolt my immortal elite otyugh with quintessence or something of the sort. I think it would be a shame if such cases allowed the other player to win an upgraded card after all the work I put into winning mine from fg farming which was quite difficult.

I don't think this game is so glitchy that new players are going to win shards often because they firebolted your immortal oty, so I don't think that's much of a concern :)  Though I do sympathize with the players who have obviously put in the time to grind to completely upgraded decks, it still doesn't improve the game to maintain it as such that every player must grind in a specific way for weeks before they can look in to building a deck they like.

Unfortunately for me it is. More often than not, quintessence does not register to the other player and my immortal creatures are killed. Other PVP glitches happen as well but this is the worst since I only have 4 creatures in my entire deck so killing one is disastrous for me. The frequency with which these glitches happen for me is probably attributed to the fact that I'm living in Japan and may not have the best connection with other players.

In that case I would think that any changes should be considered despite those glitches :)
