Suggestion -- Text Log https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=6782.msg72965#msg72965

Relatively simple suggestion, at least to describe. I think it would be interesting to allow an automatic log to be kept of games. Basically, each time an event happens, just add a line to the log; after the game, the player could then look at that log and/or save it as a text file.

Example of a partial log:

Quote
PlayerA's Mark is Aether.
PlayerB's Mark is Time.

PlayerA plays first.

It is PlayerA's turn.
PlayerA plays an Aether Tower.
PlayerA plays an Aether Tower.
PlayerA plays an Aether Tower.
PlayerA uses 3 Aether quanta and played a Phase Spider.
Phase Spider attacks. PlayerB takes 4 damage. (96 life)
PlayerA gains 3 Aether quanta from Aether Towers.
PlayerA gains 1 Aether quantum from Mark of Aether.

It is PlayerB's turn.
PlayerB plays a Time Tower.
PlayerB uses 1 Time quantum and plays Rewind. PlayerA's Phase Spider is returned to the deck.
PlayerB plays a Time Tower.
PlayerB uses 1 Time quantum and plays Precognition. PlayerA's hand is revealed. PlayerB draws a card.
PlayerB gains 2 Time quanta from Time Towers.
PlayerB gains 1 Time quantum from Mark of Time.
So, thoughts? Is this feasible? Would it be a good feature?

Way too much text. Just the bare essentials. Which cards each player plays, how much life they have at the end of the turn. There's no way to reasonably put into text exactly what happened, since you'd have to explain exactly which quanta discord screws with in order for the reader to understand why the other guy couldn't play his dragon, etc.

Good idea, but less=more

this is badly needed.

It could be this wordy, but simplier is better and it could be a collapsible box

Yep agreed, a simple text recap would be awesome.

There will be way too much text. I agree that this is a good feature to have, but to implement it we need to really shrink the text to its barest essences.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

In case anyone is wondering how big these logs would be, I tried manually logging one of my own fights against a level-2 AI -- including all the information available to me, with each player's life total and available quanta reported at the beginning of their turn. The file ended up being 6KB; the text below is the sixth round, out of 13.

Quote
level 2's turn (84 life, 14D 3T).
level 2 plays Devourer.
level 2 plays Steal on AshebrethafeT's Time Factory.
Dagger hits AshebrethafeT.

AshebrethafeT's turn (96 life, 2N 1T 1W).
AshebrethafeT draws Time Factory.
AshebrethafeT plays Time Factory.
Fate Egg hatches into Sapphire Charger.
Scarab hits level 2.
Scarab hits level 2.
Deja Vu hits level 2.
Sapphire Charger hits level 2.
