Should music be off by default? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=15431.msg197334#msg197334

Setting aside whether you like the music or not, do you think that the music should be off by default?

I feel very strongly that it should be off. There's nothing more annoying than booting up my computer in a public place, forgetting I left Elements open in my web browser, and having to dive for the "music off" button while everyone stares. I also imagine that the music is bad for anyone who occasionally plays at work or school.

Besides all this, playing music without asking permission is a violation basic netiquette and generally just noobish. When my friend first recommended this site to me, I was like "wtf is up with the music?" I didn't sign up until after he explained that the music could be turned off.

People, please vote yes. This game is great fun but the music needs to be optional.

I feel the same way about music on web pages in general. Turning off musing is the first thing I do when I log into Elements, so you got my vote on yes.

I had this problem, too. Good idea.
Also I want sounds (without clicking sounds if possible), but no music against FGs.

In public places, you should always mute your speakers.

Uhh, if the music is off by default, noobs will asked for music.

There's a reason music starts "on" on all games.

I don't like that idea at all. What I prefer, however, is that when you turn the sound off, the game remembers that and leaves it off for when you next log back in to play on the same computer. Web pages should have music off by default, games shouldn't.

The issue here is that music starts as soon as you load the page, and ends as soon as you log in.
Which means you dont get to turn it off before it starts, and its not like it adds to the gaming experience since (outside of that weird FG music) there's no music in background while you play. In other words, music is completely unimportant for this game. As is, it serves more like a signal: "oh game loaded, sign in now".

I'd love it if the settings were adjustable so that when I set my settings for something, it stays that way until I change them back, regardless of whether or not I log out. Something account specific. That way it won't matter what computer I log in with, my account is exactly as I left it.

No offense to those that took the time to make the music for the game, but I always turn it off as soon as I log in. It's usually because I am at home and have some other music going on in the background. I learned a long time ago that good music helps tremendously when grinding but, not to diminish those that put sounds in game, I have different tastes in music and sounds than the game's music creators ;)
