Spectating a Specific Arena Game your Deck Played https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=48907.msg1065490#msg1065490

At the moment, in the Arena, you can see how many games your deck has won and how many your deck has lost. I would like to have some way to know how these games developed, or at least to know against which decks the games were. Maybe a list with the games your deck fought?
For example, if I have a deck in Arena with 3 wins and 1 loss, I would like to see how the game developed, somehow.
Maybe, paying 800 :electrum or 1000 :electrum could give you the opportunity to see how one game of your Arena deck developed.
Someday, something will come out.

I don't think very many people would be interested in paying that much to watch a single game when there is an easy feature that allows players to test their own decks...

Also, the amount of memory storage needed would be massive

1. Saving all those games would take up quite a bit of memory.
2. Paying that much money would make it almost exclusively to the trainer edition people. Nobody has that much money to sink.

Well, Furball, as I followed your tutorial and I loved it, I won't object to that in any way. You convinced me.

Thanks! Glad to hear that my work helped someone! :D

I don't mean to be disparaging to what is probably a good idea, I just mention that it's way too impractical for it to be implemented unless EtG gets a massive overhaul in terms of organization and memory allocation.

When different art for upped/unupped cards was brought up, Zanz mentioned that he could do it by keeping the information off site, and it would just have to retrieve it for use.  He said this was a bad idea because there would be loading times whenever the card's art showed up (unless I misunderstood).  If this is the case, he could store this information off site.  I would love this implemented, and I wouldn't mind a little loading time in order to see it.

Also there are multiple ways to do this, it could just give the deck code the game played, and whether it was a win or loss, or a turn by turn play through like Xeno's simulator.  The latter obviously takes less space.  The only bad thing I can think of, is that this would allow arena-builders to adapt to the meta much, much faster.  Although I wonder now if a faster evolving meta is a healthier one (it is argued that a more fluid economy is better).

I would love the deck code idea, but not at a cost.

If at any cost, should be ~ 20 electrum. Pay the same amount they payed to face off against your deck.

A faster evolving meta would be much more fun, if nothing else :)

Maybe this post is relevant again...  http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,43291.0/topicseen.html

I still believe that this should be somewhat easy to code as most of the info is already there.
The notation should be fairly straight-forward until you get to things like Pande, Mutations etc.

My initial thoughts were to have The server kick out an email of game transcripts (once sent, those games could be erased from the server freeing up space) that you could load into a "viewer" which would replay the match much like spectate but you could toggle as to which deck you saw or see both at the same time. With a method like this it would be entirely possible (and I'm sure some of you will do it) to write out transcripts by hand during a match...
I've got ideas if anyone has time... ;)

Maybe this could be a feature unlocked at a certain level of play or something?

Well, I also think that I kicked up the cost too much. However, due to the versatility of the function, I think that 20 :electrum would be too cheap, so around 120 :electrum would be fine.
Laxadarap said that there would be a way to do it without having to save the game, which I think is a fantastic idea. Furthermore, the game could be saved as an algorithm with two dimensional arrays, for the time received, time played (for the card) and card type is already a code. So it might be possible.
This feature wouldn't only let the player to know how he played, but to know where the main flaws of his arena deck against e.g. Mono-Aether decks or Immobows are. At the moment, you only know whether you won or you lost, but not HOW. Testing the deck is not the same, because you can't test the decks with many different ones to check if there is a slip in your deck.

A text-based 'spectate' does sound more reasonable. I've seen some other games do this (mostly posted as soon as a move is made).

Probably won't be implemented given the amount of updates we've been getting these days  :-[

Yes, a number of variables and the card names (e.g. 58o) would be much more useful, take up less space and easy to do.
