So I was thinking, it's always annoying to me that I need to put multiple copies of a weapon or shield in my deck, just to increase the chances of getting it sooner. The weapon and shield slots are some of the most unique and awesome things in Elements, and it would be fun for me if I could just have it out right away, as a signature part of my deck and elemental identity, tied to my mark.
I propose that we be allowed to select one weapon and one shield in our deck which is in the appropriate slot as soon as the game starts, costing you no quanta. The weapon or shield does not come into effect until a number of turns has passed equal to its current quantum cost. You cannot select a weapon or shield unless its current quantum cost matches your mark (except for Other weapons/shields).
You could put duplicates in your deck still if you are worried about permanent destruction, theft, or want flying weapons (though I think the arms race between who has more permanents or permanent destruction in their deck is dumb, and wouldn't mind if it was taken out altogether either). I'm not sure this idea is fully thought out yet but I think it would be awesome if something like this were implemented.
Edit: One idea to deal with the permanent situation, is to make spells that target them more temporary. Fire gets a spell that disables a permanent for X turns, while Darkness gets a spell which gives you a "shadow version" of that permanent for X turns. Works for me.
