Mono Aether could use a huge buff.
Dimensional Shields should be free, since they aren't permanent.
Phase Dragons should have 14 attack because they can't be Fractaled.
Spark should be a 3|3 creature for free, just like Horned Frog and Blue Crawler.

Maybe one day Aether will have a chance to make the top half in War.

1. spark, a card that does 3 damage once, and is only really useful for being immolated.
WRONG A Momentum/Unstoppable or other Hp-buffer can make it a sustained creature.  Also, Fractalling it has had uses with Sky Blitz and Chimera for an OHK.  More so, mutation fodder.  The free cost of the card is what makes it a good card in so many other ways than just Immolation fodder.  Also can be a "free" death trigger, only being that it takes up a card slot in you deck.

2. lightning, a decent direct damage spell that is outshined by fire lance and drain life
WRONG It has strength in that it doesn't require a quanta sink to deal what is significant damage.  It outshines the other bolts in that its damage is more than the common HP of creatures, including several creatures from Gravity and Earth, while having only the quanta required to cast the spell.  We don't need too many quanta sink cards, which Fractal (though more of a duo+ quanta sink card) already fills that spot in aether.

3. 2 immaterial creatures
Perfectly fine A big one and a small one.

4. 2 cards that make creatures immaterial
Not too much, not too little Alchemy and the alchemist (the Nymph).

5. 2 other cards that target creatures and give you a beneficial effect from them
Not a big issue I would honestly say that one is enough per element, given they can use opponent creatures.

6. 1 creature that can take advantage of either of the two above points
Agreed First it has 3, given you throw in an HP buff onto a Spark, and the Nymph.  Second, I do agree that it's short on creatures that can be target, even in the general spectrum of all cards, since only one is self-sustainable otherwise and common.

7. mindgate, silence, and lobotomizer (no issues)
Nothing to say since there are no issues
Rule #1: The Captain is never wrong.  Rule #2: If the Captain is wrong, refer to Rule #1.

Actually, the dragon was changed to remove the combo with PU because it was' too powerful', which is an outdated idea now with the introduction of pendulums.

5 damage per 10 quanta for lightning wouldn't be too bad, I guess.

agree that it's an outdated idea, disagree that duo decks with pendulums have consistent enough quanta generation to be on par with mono decks.

Once a certain level of internal synergy is met, adding cards rather than reworking cards becomes a more efficient means of increasing mono synergy.

I am certain that Aether has crossed this threshold.

What Aether could use to improve mono synergy:
Another mono Spark Enhancer (Fractal was the first mono enhancer, Parallel Universe is a duo enhancer)
Another targetable creature for Quint/Nymph and Parallel Universe (mid range, more expensive than the spider with stats/skill to match )
A non targeting creature enhancer (Same category as Nightfall but with a drastically different mechanic)

When looking to improve the synergy of the game:
1) Talk to an expert on the synergy of that section. [for internal element synergy the element's Master is a good choice. This is especially true for Aether] They will give you a detailed examination of the synergy that exists. (they might even tell you rare unnoticed synergies)
2) Look for which synergies have the fewest variations.
3) Try to group those together and suggest solutions.

Personally I see 2 cards
1) A non targeting creature enhancer to enhance Spark, Immortal and Phase Dragon
2) A material creature with an offensive skill that stacks that will enhance Quint/Nymph and PU
