What do you think about this little modification:

1. Play a weapon (example Owl's eye)
2. Protect/enhance artifact
3. Animate weapon
4. Weapon animated has quintessence due to protect/enhance artifact status.

it already does that, and this should be in the "buff this card" section

It doesn't do that.  Morning Star is immaterial regardless because it is the skill of Morning Star to be immaterial.

Edited for better wording.

Just tryed to test this as nerd1 said, Osiris eated my Eagle's eye, but I got him to deck out :P)

Further explanation:
You cannot usually add status when something is protected (quintessence or protect artifact) due to the buff effect is "card cannot be targeted"; but see how using "animate weapon" works for morning glory, Fire buckler, Thorn capparace, Procastrination works on quintessenced creatures.
Also, you can play a weapon over a protected one, this way we keep "consistency" whithin features.
