Pimp my Elements login screen!

I've always though that Elements login screen is too bland and doesn't give enough information. Lets say some random guy finds elementsthegame.com . This random guy knows nothing about Elements the game. Once the game loads, it only shows the login. No information about the actual game.

There is a certain percentage of internet users that will not login to a site unless they know what it is about. I'm 100% sure that many players have skipped Elements because you are greeted with a login screen instead of something that tells you what this site is.

What I propose is that login screen would have something extra to spice up things a bit and at the same time show new players what Elements is about.

That image is there just to prove a point. I made it in 3 minutes, I know it looks like crap, and I'm not saying it should be exactly like that.

I think the login screen should have either cards, or big background images like that Rustler there, or both. Cards would be pretty good because they would tell the new visitor what this site is about.

i believe that SG's intention of this thread is not to comment on the second image - whether it is good or otherwise - she did mention that it is not the best image after all.
imo, i love the idea and totally support this. elements has gone far since it's first release thus it deserves a new look. i'm thinking of something that could show more on what this game is all about apart from a great art to attract people to join.

maybe there should be a competition of some sort but i do aware that this could means more work and more annoying posts.

or.. maybe i'm just thinking too far ahead on this one.

Well, I'm the type of guy that doesnt register to anything that I dont "need" or dont know what exactly it is. I registered to Elements without much thinking about it as it didnt require my email. (not sure if that changed though).

As for suggestion, I dont think flash screen needs pimping, but other parts of the page can definitely be prettier and more descriptive.

Hmm . . . maybe I'm in the minority, but I like the simple login screen.  No clutter, no questions of what to do or where to go (ie good GUI), good use of "white space"—these are all pluses to me.  After you register you get a kind of introduction screen that somewhat gives an idea of the game.  If zanz wants, maybe he can put a button on the login screen that leads to that one for those who want to know more about the game before committing.  But the login screen has an elegance and polish (which the music nicely compliments) that puts this game in a class of its own.  Other games use lots of bombastic video/music/etc. to draw players in, but they stay only for a short while.  This game draws players in and then keeps them around with it's strong commitment to quality and care that other free online games just plain lack.  My opinion, keep things the way they are and maybe add a button that leads to the choose an element screen or a new introduction of the game screen.

I like the idea . This will definitely attract more attention. I remember when I first stumbled on Elements I thought the game was going to be a total snore-fest at the login screen.
